Default Best bang for the buck

I have a LS1/T56 Combo that cam out of a 02 Camaro SS
The car had 19k miles on it and was bone stock.
I'm swaping the combo into a 66 Nova 2 door
I was looking at all the different cam/ head combos and since I really don't know much about motors I'm hoping someone here can help me out.

The first combo is from Texas speed parts and its the PRC 2.5 5.3 Heads and a Touquer 2 cam

I also noticed they have like 4 other head combos for around $500 more

Is this pretty much the best deal for a otherwise stock motor? I know lots of people use them so but if spending an extra 500 is gonna make more ponies than I would like to go that route. Or if anyone knows of another good company to deal with that would be a huge help.

I plan on adding headers, ud pully and a few other little things. Motor already has an LS6 intake and will be tied into a Ford 8.8 posi rear with 373 gears and the T56. Once again if anyone can give me some advise so I don't end up buying something twice. In terms of goals this is going to be a car that comes out on the summer weekends to have some fun with so not a daily driver but in the same note I don't want to break down because its to wild.

I ran that exact first combo and it was nice, but I now run those same heads with a bigger cam on a 370 LQ9 and it's much stronger! The PRC 2.5/5.3 heads are one of the best bang for your buck heads out there IMO

I agree and I am quite please with the performance of mine.

What cam did you step up to?

It a custom grind from Thompson Motorsports. Basically very similar to a M3 Magic Stick cam...at least the specs are similar. What cam are you running?

Thanks for the help. Would you guys say that spending the extra $500 on a better flowing head would be worth the power difference? Or are we talking a difference that wont really be noticed?

I am currently running a 226/234 110+3. I am considering a 235/243 110+4 and more converter. I am wondering if it will clear without flycutting with that much advance.

You know, I have seen dyno tests where they pitted CNC LS6 heads to the high dollar aftermarket heads and they went toe to toe no problem. I would not spend the extra money unless I needed a thicker deck or some other feature of the aftermarket casting.

Yeah that's a very similar duration as my cam, but with even a bit more advance. I have valve reliefs built into mine, and I definitely needed them lol. I'm running the heads on a 61cc, and with the stock head gasket it still comes in at 11.5:1 compression

I'd consider the PRC 225 as cast, they're a good looking head and don't cost that much more.

You may want to also consider looking into a cam from Tick Performance, they use newer lobes that are easier on the valve train and have been putting down some good numbers lately.
