Default Am I being ripped off for service?

For my 02 trans am WS6

2x 02 sensor replacement and tail light bulb replacement for $479 + tax...

any input is appreciated.

Thanks

Alex

I should ad they are calling the bulb $8 and the 02 sensors 84.99

note: I already knew going in that the 02 sensors were bad as I have the Predator computer that told me the codes which I let the garage know.

Holy ****....they aren't even using lube to rape you.

It probably takes longer to jack the car up and get it on stands than it will to change the sensors. You need one open ended wrench (could even be done with an adjustable wrench in a pinch) and undo a single plug in harness for each sensor.

The bulb you could do in the parking lot of the parts store where you buy it.

The cost of parts seems about right considering they are marking them up, but holy cow that's a lot for labor -- especially for something so simple.

Do yourself a favor and search on this site for how to do both of those things and where to buy the parts. You'll save a significant amount of money.

BTW, which O2's are they? I have two functioning rear O2's that I no longer need since doing long tubes. You can have them!

I would feel bad asking someone to bring me more than a 6 pack of craft beer to do both of those jobs if the person supplied the parts.

Thanks guys. I picked it up today they had already done the bulb. So I paid the $57 to change two tail light bulbs and ran for the hills.

Damn you could have gotten and installed a nice pair of headers with that price!!

Defiantly look on the forums before deciding to take your car to a shop. I have virtually no mechanical experience before I bought my car 2 months ago and have done all the mods myself because of the great info on this site. Have yet to take it to a shop.

Where did you get the work done for this? This is almost bordering on robbery.

Dont feel so bad, when i first got my ta the turn signals didnt work and it was like the only car i had at the time and i had no idea what i was doing and just wanted to make sure i had working turn signals as soon as possible so i took it to a shop. Had 8 bulbs out and cost me $300, but once they told me $500 to fix my power steering, i was gone
