Default How fast is this ls1?

I've always wanted an f-body but was forced to get a truck for my first car when it turned 16. Now almost 20 I'm getting closer and closer from graduating college. Then I'm going to trade my truck for an f-body. A few days ago I test drove a 98 Z28 with an ls1 hot cam, high flow air lid, long tubes, complete borla catback, 3.73 gears. Damn that thing haulled ****. I scared the **** out of the sales man (going 120 on the entrance ramp Hey he told me to get on it ) Anyways what do you think that car ran in the quarter judging by its mods? I'm really interested in the car.

That is hard to say and I'm not very good at it....but all it really had was a hotcam, exhaust, and gears....what transmission?.......If I had to guess I'd say it'd run 12's.........mid to high 12's???

auto or manual??

Probably mid 12's if you can keep the tires from lighting up(i imagine it's got some weak dealership tires on it)

It was an A4, with some type of aftermarket tires. I did get a chance to look at the tires that much but I could tell that they weren't stock. So you guys think mid to high 12's??

That is interesting........a Hot Cam on an A4..........is it possible that it had a converter as well? The autos are typically quicker through the quarter mile. I think mid 12's given what you said but most A4's with a cam have a converter as well and a converter makes a big diff.........

I know one thing. If that car hasn't been to horribly abused, that's one hell of a car to trade in on...

They are willing to do a straight trade. Although I'm a bit skeptical because it has 104k on the clock. The guy said it has a new motor, but I'm thinking "if they had to put a new motor in it, how much was it abused" I don't know. I might have my mechanic look at it.

i would seriously doubt that the dealership put in a new motor. I can tell you from pesonal experience, **** happens. My motor is not the original motor. You think it might be possible to get a compression check on the motor, or some in depth analysis on how strong the motor is? If they are standoffish, i would be weary, but if they are willing to work with you, then go a little deeper with them!

Sounds like alot of fun, and a neat find.
