Default New to the forum, just picked up a 6.0 with a whole lot of goodies

whats up yall!!
I just picked up a 6.0 ls1 i think, new to these engines and not really sure on the difference between the series....ls1,ls2,ls3,etc....this engine is the aluminum block and trying to find out info on casting numbers to determine wut i have. I have been searching for one for awhile to put in my 86 toyota 4x4. Wasnt expecting to get lucky enough for a setup like i got. I was looking for something mild, 5.3, 5.7, even 6.0 stock and do basic mods for decent power. I wound up with this 6.0 and the guy claims its bored and stroked to 409 ci, it came with west coast racing heads and a magnuson supercharger. The valves measured out to 2.15 i/ 1.60 e. Supercharger has a 3.20 pulley. He is saying it was putting out around 600hp. Does that seem about right? The truck it was in was wrecked. I have the harness, pcm, headers....everything! But, he said there was a noise, kind of a clattering sound but not from the bottom end. Engine was tore apart. Im gonna drop it off a a machine shop very well known around these parts for their work and have em spec it to see if it is what i was told, line hone mains, balance and blueprint. Go thru the heads, if it turns out to be as i was told im definately not putting it in my toyota and considering buying a shortbed single cab to drop it in. Thinking of running supercharger for a bit then goin turbo. I have read that aluminum blocks are good for around 700-1,000hp depending on how their set up. I will definately have it done right. Any opinions or tips are greatly appreciated......

Aluminum 6.0 sounds like a ls2 block, post some pics of it so we can really see it!

Sounds like a good find

The ports on those heads are rectangle, the ls2 came with cathedral ports in the heads. So you either got a ls2 that someone put ls3 heads on, or you scored a ls3 motor. Does the block have the liter # cast in to it ? Like this...

Yes 6.0 is casted on back of the block, the heads are west coast racing, measured the valves and they are 2.15 intake and 1.60 exhaust....

The block should be a ls2 block, the LQ4/9 6.0L blocks are iron and the ls3 is a 6.2L. Do the heads have a cast # on them. Here's where they should be...
