6'6"... am i in the wrong place?
Hello all! First let me start by saying that i'm very excited to be a member of such a useful board.
I currently have a '93 Mustang Gt (American Iron car in the works) and a '01 BMW 330ci (on the way out). The 330 is not what I expected. It has a terrible Drive-by-wire delay that makes it frustrating to drive. So there is the background as to why i'm here.
I'm looking for a car that'll cut through corners and have enough torque to power out of them. The mustang is in the works for the track, like i mentioned earlier, however i see that you the F-body platform already has a torque arm/panhard bar. Its been a while since I drove an F-body ,but i do remember it was a hoot to drive.
Would I fit, in the '00+ Z28/SS? I wear a 34/35 inseam and weigh 220lbs. Also, for those of you that hit the autocrosses/open tracks... would this be a wise move for me? I'm currently searching for a 1995 BMW M3 to use on the track... however this idea popped into my head so i figured i'd research it some.

You should fit just fine. We have several members that height or taller that drive f-bodies. Two of our staff members are at least that tall, and one of the writers for GM High Tech Performance (Jim McIlvane, former NBA star) drives a 2002 SS convertible.
If you get a T-top car, they have slightly more head room. If you can fit in that Mustang it will be no problem in an f-body.
If you are looking for something with BMW-like styling, but way more power, go test drive a new GTO. Same engine as the f-body/Corvette.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I am glad to hear that i'll fit without a problem, and FWIW i've always wanted a car with t-tops but it was never too high on my list of priorities.
The new GTO is a very interesting vehicle, i have not yet been able to test drive one as the dealers are still pretty protective of the ones the actually get in. I dont care for the styling too much (never have even when i was in Australia a couple summers ago) however i hear that they perform very closley to a european sports coupe. I'd prefer to hold out on that and let other, more risk taking individuals, take them to the track first

Yeah, I'm 6"6, and I have issues in a Camaro. I don't have issues with head room as much, but most of my height is in my legs. The problem I have is with shifting, as my legs are so long I can't really press the clutch with JUST my foot, I have to use my entire lower leg. So I can't really smoothly depress the clutch just by moving my foot, I have to move my entire leg so it gets kinda jerky. If I buy an SS, I'm going to look into probably moving the seat backwards a couple inches so I get some leg room.

6'7 250lbs here...no problems fitting into my old '00 Z28 (w/o t-tops). Now fitting into this Cobra of mine is a different story.
Welcome to the site. Stick around and you soon see the ability of the LS1.
We have 200mph fbodies, 8 second fbodies, show cars, etc...

I've seen the ability of the f-bodies... i'm very impressed. Unfortunatly its been reserved for the drag strip so far, and thats not my cup of tea. I'm excited to see that there is some interest in road racing so I'll be lurking around.
unit213- I was considering a 98 cobra however being as tall as i am i always got my knee stuck between the steering and the door panel on anything newer than a fox body. Have you done anything to free up some room? Or are you simply making due with what ford put out? (interior room wise)

So you're more of a road racing guy huh? That's cool. We have plenty of that here. The majority of members are speed/drag racing freaks though.

i, too, am 6'6", and actually a little bit taller. i have owned non-t-top camaros and t-tops camaros. i fit in both fine. don't even try to worry about it. the newer vipers, however, i cannot fit into no matter how i adjust the seat.

Welcome to the board man, enjoy. I'm 5'10 145lbs and wish the seat went back further but I still love the car. I don't know how you people 6ft plus fit in these cars I think it's really funny to see someone 7ft get outta a fbody.

I'm 6'1" and for what it's worth my Camaro has considerably more leg room than my Trans Am. And both have much more room that my friend's Cobra. Gosh I hate that interior...

Oh yeah.... i'm all about lateral acceleration...
I originally was going to sell the 330 and get a S2000 (i can drive it as is but with some slight mods i could make it comfortable) but i think the combination of NO TORQUE and lack of driveability in bad weather made me look at other options.
You guys are really getting me pumped up on this idea. I cant help what the Mustang and a Camaro would do to my wallet in terms of the rising gas prices though
