Default help ford guy with first 5.3 build

First I apologize I know there is a search button and this has more than likely been cover a million times, but I prefer to ask questions and have them answered than read others convos. I'd like advice on my build. I have two blocks a complete 2002 5.3 and a bare 07. Which should I use? I've heard that running high hp on stock rods is living on borrowed time. Is this true? I was thinking forged rods, pistons and stock crank, ported 241s, not sure about intake yet. I will be running a turbo on e85. I would like to be in the 900rwhp range with room to grow. Its will be a strret beater but not in the dd sense. More like local weekend car show on friday and track on sunday kind of car. Thanks

for 9+ lbs of boost I would consider aftermarket forged rods .check out U-tube for a turbo 5.3 video ,the guy got his monies worth out of his stock 5.3 .

I'd run the stock bottom end all day long up to 15lbs without worrying about it one bit, as long as the tune is good and all else is good it will have no problem handling it, It has been done TONS of times.

Thanks. Do the stock rods need to be resized to fit arp bolts?

Yes, the big end will need resizing.

The intake completely depends on what direction the vehicle is going, you have the choice of a stock ls6 or truck manifold which are the best flowing stock manifolds, Fast manifolds, Holley mid and high rise intakes and the Edelbrock intakes. Match the intake to your setup and cam choice etc etc.
