Default Just blew out th rear end. knew it was comin

So i just blew my rear end yesterday and to be honest i am surprised i got th miles out of i did. so here's th low down 2000 Camaro SS m6 its mostly stock now but i already have new lunati voodoo crank with matching 6.125 rods (not yet installed) cylinders have been honed but just to th bare minimum i have pretty nice ls6 heads revuilt and ported ls6 induction with 92mm tb only reason nither of these are on yet is because i don't know wich cam i want and could actually use some help there. so I'm sure ill have to rebuild these heads anyway again. I ordered a bad *** super cooler that connects to everything. My goal is to be able to cruse this camaro like a corvette. She ain't a drag car. she even sports z06 six rims (18 in rear 17 in front) with nito street runners. I don't know gear ratios well enough to get th right rear end. Any suggestions would be greatly apreciated. and like i said not a drag car a nice jump in th take off would be cool but I'm not lookin for a throw you in th backseat slingshot.

Id go with a 9". You might think its overkill but if you have the money and can handle the downtime its definetly worth it for a worry free life.

I got a MWC 9" because I wanted to do it once. It's expensive, especially depending on the options you get though. Plan on a $4,000 mod with all the trimmings and anything less will be a bonus.

9 in. are too heavy, if you are just gonna cruise it, buy a strange 12 bolt w/ABS

I bought a Moser 12 Bolt with 4 channel ABS in 2005 but I regret buying a Moser because the bolts to fasten the torque arm have been a nightmare! I have driven the car since (maybe 25k....) and haven't had issue with the rear end since.

EDIT: 9 in. install compared to 12 bolt install

I have a 10 bolt for sale. 150$ takes it, 68K miles on it, never had a problem with it, just got an S60 for fear of doing what you did.

12bolt 171lbs
9in 174lbs
S60 191lbs

There is a 3lb difference between the 9in and 12bolt.

But here is a good read on the usual rear end swaps on the pros and cons.

9 inch rear. I'm going with one as soon as I lower the car.

12 bolt has a lower parasitic loss than a 9 inch due to the pinion position on the ring gear.

For the vast majority of people the 12 bolt works great. The main reason most people go to a 9 inch is because that is what racers use. Racers us it because they change their gears frequently. Most people change their gears VERY rarely so there is no reason for the extra expense.

On the weight issue in that comparison did the 9 inch have a aluminum or steel center section?

If I was in your situation I would go with a 12 bolt with 9 inch housing ends, that eliminates the c-clips.

I thought a sheet metal 9 with the aluminum center was only about 10lbs more then the stock 10 bolt.
