Smile What is the best cam for my 1999 Trans Am?

I am looking to install a bigger cam into my recently bought 1999 Trans Am. I love the sound of them! I was wondering what cam should I get to make it sound like a deep rumbling noise ( also most sounds like the car is going to stall) .

I would like to know the price and how much to install it, and anything else I need to support it.

I live in Canada so I know the prices are going to be more than the U.S

i personally am going with a custom grind from tick in spring. look into their cams, they make some great grinds. valve springs are a must, preferably dual springs (can range from low 200s to 250ish). some other common upgrades to do along with the cam and springs are the ls2 timing chain (43 bucks on ws6store), an ls6 oil pump (about 130-150), and the comp cams trunion upgrade (130ish) for the stock rocker arms depending on how many miles are on the stockers.

the ASA cam with the right muffler sounds mean .who will tune it for you ? I recommend a mail order tune from Frost ,a tuner on the site .you should install new springs if yours are high mileage .consider some new push rods and rocker arm bearings also .check SDPC , sw6 store ,or Texas Speed for parts .

I second that! 224 with a 112 LSA is one of the best and safest cams to run in this car. You don't even have to upgrade your TC! Although I still would the gains would be much more noticeable.

You have to give us some info about your car!
What transmission A4 or M6, what other modification does the engine have, what rear gears, what rpm range do you want it to make the most HP/TQ, will it need to pass a tailpipe emissions test, what's more important to you max power or valve train life ?

I concur, too little info to tell you what cam to put into your. A cam install is also not cheap. The labor for a cam install in my area is around $700.
