Default valve train tick noise?

so my new motor has had a small tick that is valve train related.. I don't know what the f it is but its driving me insane..
I am using the same pushrods and cam combo as my old combo. same heads. Not decked anything. 7.400 pushrods, new ls7 lifters.. all seems right but it makes a tick.. hasn't changed in the last 500 miles or so of driving it. I changed the oil to 5/20 to see if the lifters were fighting the 10/30.. Checked push rod length and seems to have about one full turn or .080 preload..
im thinking of trying to get some 7.375 and 7.425 pushrods to see if that helps. What do you guys think?
