Default Reflash/Retune needed? Is there a library of programmable items?

Ok so I am new to all this computer stuff and obviously need to get up to speed if I am going to keep this car. My question is pretty simple - I hope there is a simple answer. How does one determine when a retune/reflash is necessary and when it is not? I guess what I am looking for is there a decision tree out there that someone can follow that guides one to knowing when a retune is necessary? I have a couple issues I am wondering about right now. I just installed a transmission from a 1994 Buick Roadmaster and it appears to be original. The vehicle it was swapped into is a 1995 Camaro but the engine and wiring harness is from a 1994. Do I need to reprogram computer so that is knows there is a 1994 tranny in it? Will the speed sensor in the new transmission read ok? How do you know what items require a reflash/retune and not? Thanks

Also, is there a way of knowing what all is currently programmed into the existing computer?
