just bought a 02 z28
hey i just bought a z28 camaro with the ls1 and for 4l60e transmisson and it haves about 182xxx mile on engine but i was wondering wat is the rebuilt time for these engines and i noticed between my oil pan and trans there was oil dipping...i got a couple of opinons ( oil pan gasket or rear main seal) but i dont really know wat it is...i just need some insight on this if anyone had this happen before thanks!

rebuilds and repair mileage can vary depending upon how well it was maintained and other variables such as driving habits and modifications.
4l60s tend to wear out once mods are added and RPMs are raised over stock. but theres plenty of builders to make them last.
anyhow,with that mileage you can expect to spend some money on repairs.

my 6 speed car is up to 238,000 and I don't believe ever had a valve cover off it , most common bolt ons have been on it for about 150k of that , I have seen posts on here with much closer to 300k and 1 that was over 300k others manage to blow them up with 70k its all dependant on the use/abuse..
highway miles are easier than around town , the higher you spin them the more they wear , low on oil or dirty oil will shorten life , overheating will take longevity off any engine. don't beat on any engine till it comes up to temp especially aluminum blocks like the ls1 has - pistons are pretty loose in the bores until heat expands everything , audible piston slap is common when cold wait till its gone before pounding on it
