Default What the heck is this and do I need it

Putting on my potz throttle body and I see that in between the throttle body and intake manifold do I need it??

The orange is the gasket and yes you do.

The silver tube is the EGR crap and you should look up details on how to properly remove it. You will need block off plates, a plug for the hole in the intake, and have the codes for it tuned out.

just go to install university ls1 egr mod. has pictures & step by step. if you remove it & add block off plate you must adjust the computer. (delete egr) cheers

You can simply pull it out and cut the long tube off if you don't want to remove the entire system at this time.

EGR = Exhaust Gas Recirculation. It pulls exhaust from the exhaust manifold, and recirculates it back through the intake. It is for emission purposes.

Will I get any hp from deleting the egr or does it help the car run better with no hot exhaust gases going into the intake manifold?
