Default Installing LS1 pan and Stick tube on LS2

Hey there,
Im new to the boards and new to the LS scene. I searched around and learned that the LS2 dip sick tube goes straight to the pan, and that in some cases there is no hole in the block on the LS2 to install the LS1 tube. I ordered a pan kit from superchevy, will i need to drill the block? Thanks in advance for any help im looking foward to learning this platform.

Nobody? I'd like an answer too..on my first 5.3 build but always on the lookout for a nice 6.0 or 6.2 and this will factor into cost. Is this am issue at all?
Thanks!

First off, **** you, super jelly bout that FD you got there

I think we'd need more info on the pan you are talking about. My L33 (aluminum 5.3) HAD a block mounted dipstick, I plugged it with a freeze plug from chevy. Reason being, the fueled racing 240SX swap kit I'm running includes an oil pan with a threaded boss to mount a dipstick they include.

The hole for the dipstick is pretty small, and on the passenger side of the block 2/3's of the way back-ish right above the webbing at the oil pan flange area. Have you looked for a freeze plug there?

Curious to know more about your pan, superchevy . com is a magazine site haha, no pans for sale.

http://www.superchevyperformance.com/

It's a oem replacement style LS1 no pan. Says it passes through the block, no direct pan access. I need to go look at my block again. Some sites say I don't have a port, and I don't wanna drill! Thanks I love FD's been waiting for years to do this swap! !

My LM7 is in the same spot as you describe. Small unthreaded hole. Curious about the LS2.

This is what I see in that area, right in front of the starter.

That looks the plugged hole right there. Silvery-looking spot right next to the end of the starter. Shoot right into the pan.

yeah that's the only hole in the area so it looks like the pan I got will work fine.
