Default 6.0 Advice

Hey guys, I have a stock bottom end 6.0 with 317 heads, pac 1218 springs (installed when I bought the heads, so unsure of mileage or abuse, so I'll prob swap them out when I put cam in) .051 gm head gaskets, ls6 intake with gt500 injectors and a stock truck tb. I originally was going to turbo the motor, but for what I want to do with it, turbo isn't for me. I also picked up a Holley hi ram intake last summer, so I have that option as well. My goals for this car, which is a 69 Nova with 4l80e, are an aggressive street driver that I can autocross and take on a road course. My budget is fairly limited at this time, but am not opposed to selling my current heads/Intake for a better setup. So what is your advice as to the direction I should go? Or is my current setup suitable for what I have? I'm concerned that the compression is too low with the thick headgasket. Thanks for any help/advice, I am a noob at this..lol

I believe it to be a 9 because of the flat top pistons. It's out of an 02 2500

The LQ9 will be a 10:1 compression motor with 317 heads, the LQ4 is a 9.4:1 compression motor with the same 317 heads.

Bore 4.0 (inches)
Stroke 3.622 (inches)
Rod Length 6.098 (inches)
Cyl. Head Vol. 72 (cc)
Deck Height 0.006 (inches)
Head Gasket Bore 4.04 (inches)
Head Gasket Thickness 0.052 (inches)
Piston to Cyl. Wall Clearance 0.003 (inches)
Top Ring Land Height 0.25 (inches)
(LQ4) Piston Dome Vol. -8 (cc)

If your budget will allow I would sell the 317's and pick up some 243 or 799 heads. The 63cc combustion chamber with a .040 gasket would get you 11.2:1 compression. Add a good cam in there and you'll have your self a stout setup.
