Default Cold Air Intake

I have been through all of the FAQ and Newbie threads and the problem is they are all 10 years old. I am sure things have changed since then. In the last 10 years has there been a better option for a CAI? I see most hate the SLP options, some like the K&N FIPK, some hate it. This is for a 99 Camaro SS with functional hood. I don't like how the stock lid fits so I am looking for options. Thanks

Smile

are you including a lid in this question?

as far as they go take your pick. i have a whisper lid which has been very durable. i also have the very unpopular SLP CAI which most will recommend going with something else.

Yes lids also. I was going to go with the SLB, but then I read it would rub the SS hood. Kinda confusing.

Some for of lid setup and if you want more extensive then that, some sort of under the bumper/behind the grill ram air.

Avoid anything like the K&N FIPK over the radiator heatsoak special like the plague.

my concern with some ram air setups is that they can block your radiator making it run hotter.

SLP redesigned their lid several years ago. It fits better than they once did, but there is not a lid out there that doesn't seem to have some sort of either rubbing issue or how it lines up.

As for cold air kits, Fast Toys Ram Air (FTRA) and the Super Sucker Ram Air (SSRA) are still popular options. There is also the JAAM kit, but I never looked into it.

Yea because it uses the hood scoops. The FTRA and SSRA is for both since it seals the lid and takes air from under the car.
