Default Simple break down of the LS series

I have a 68 firebird I'm building and I want to put an LS motor in it. Can some break down the differences between LS1,2,3,6 and how those compare to the truck LS motors and what's different about them? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

use MAC's link, Wikipedia has a pretty good page there outlining the major differences

After that spend time lurking in the conversions and hybrids section on here that's where you can see literally dozens of first gen f bodies in process of doing every LS engine variant swap - the amount of activity in that section of the forum is astounding !!
