Default tranny cooler?

I am not sure about this, but dont z28 a4's come with a stock tranny cooler? if so, when i hear about people adding an aftermarket tranny cooler, does this mean they are replacing the stock cooler, or just adding another tranny cooler to. Another question: where does the tranny cooler mount at? Inside the transmission? i know its kinda a stupid question, but I dont know much about tranny's

The stock radiator has a transmission cooler built into it but, it doesn't get the job done when you add a stall plus run the car hard. Most people put the aftermarket cooler in line after the factory cooler. Most people mount the after market cooler on the radiator but since I have no bumper support and impact bar I mounted mine right behind one of the grill nostrils. Since I added the cooler my trans temp usaully never gets above 180* now and that's only when I sit in traffic.

Here's a pic. No making fun of my ghetto strap bracket, it works like a charm.

Even on a stock car adding a trans cooler will definately give you more life from your trans. I added one on mine. Call it cheap insurance.

I mounted my tranny cooler on the same plastic piece as GM muscle but I put mine on the other side facing the radiator, and moved it a bit up to fit it in there. I then cut a hole in the plastic so that air would flow to it from both sides. I think this is the easiest way to mount the cooler.
