I just finished rebuilding my Ls1 99 camaro ss and spent right about 5000K but the main stuff I did was a vengeance racing cam kit Ls7 lifters and a set of 243 heads and a stage 2 monster clutch and replaced all bearings and gaskets and machine work and tune. But depends on what your goals are I wish I would have spent the money on forged rods and pistons because my new power goals are going to need it

I really appreciate the responses . & yes that's one thing I didn't state . My goals are perhaps brake into the 450+ hp. As of today I'm ordering long tubes , having a hard time choosing a Cam... Perhaps looking for a kit with lifters & rockers. I already got my lowering springs & shocks . Zr1 deep dish wheels . That's just looks though . I want power . Please continue with the feedback

good head/cam/intake and anything short of a power adder coyote is done on the street.

Being M6 or A4 DOES make a difference here though

Another thing ....what intake are you guys running ? I've read some stuff online & thru people that's 01 already Camaro with the ls6 intake ? So is it necessary to change it for like a fast 102mm or 90mm intake ? Thanks

Makes a small to a bit of a power difference, but if you have 5K to spend I would worry more about the head cam package. Intake will make a difference if you go with a huge cam then the power on top will increase.

Monster clutch and for cam vengeance racing cam kit is pretty awesome comes with everything you need new oil pump , comp cams trunion upgrade, springs, timing chain. Can't remember it all look on their site was like 1500 and they have a bunch of cams to choose from or u can get a custom order cam. I picked the vrx4 cam because anything bigger I would surge with stock gear ratio and my car is a dd

I do not know my HP yet I have noticed on the dyno yet but making a good amount more if I had to guess I'm probably around 400 rwhp from what I have read and seen on dyno charts from that cam but right now I am on stock exhaust manifold and have not installed my new injectors.

I am in the process of attempting to get 550 or so HP from a 99 LS1 and just spent what I had available and didn't even get to the bottom end. Hoping its in decent shape. I have owned the car for 16 years but read about everything I could on here for a month. It hurt to buy new heads but was a must and with cam and the fast intake, long tube headers I think or hope I get close. Good luck!

We are running a special on our CNC ported 317 heads with NO core required for $999 assembled with blue springs. You can put that with our dual spring cam kit and we will send the heads assembled with the dual springs and grind a cam of your choice. The cam kit is $684.99. The combination of heads and cam can get you in the lower 500HP range. Give us a call if you want to discuss some options. The sale ends May 31st.
Thank you,
Kyle
