Default Noob ls1 mod guide help

Hi guys, just created my account after months of looking through this forum. My story...

Bought a 1999 Monte Carlo with 94,000 miles as my first car last year. I was swayed to buy this vehicle because it contained the notoriously reliable L36 engine, or so i thought I bought the car with no warranty because I was stupid and wanted to save money. Turns out car had blown plenum gasket and cost me more to fix it then i bought it for! Needless to say i sold that POS. My fbody journey began when I bought a manual 1998 V6 Firebird with the same L36 engine but quickly got bored of the lackluster 200hp this car produced. I ended up selling her and buying a 1999 Camaro Z28 just last month which I am in love with, I'm sure i don't need to explain the feeling I promised myself 305hp would be enough but we all know how that works out. Anyway, as she sits now she has 135,000miles with a beautifully shifting A4 trans and is completely stock. My current budget is $1000 give or take. 2-3 year plan is bolt ons, suspension, Heads/Cam and possibly FI once i graduate college in that order. My short term plan for this month was buy Pacesetter LT headers, Lid and Tune. These would be my mods for ATLEAST the next year which is the only reason why im considering the tune. If i knew i was going to do any other performance mods in the near future I would skip tune. My objective is to squeeze as much hp/tq as possible out with this $1000, so knowing my budget, short term and long term goals what is your take on my short terms goals specifically??

PS- I would install headers and intake myself along with a few competent buddies so obviously i don't need to worry about installation costs

Sounds like a reasonable and doable goal for the money, and the tune will just maximize it all. Or for that same money you could hit it with a 100-150 shot. Just another thought...

No problem man. Just wanted to throw out an idea. But just so you know, when setup right, you won't damage your ride whatsoever with occasional nitrous usage

Yeah I hear Ya, all in the tune! Just trying to take it a bit slow as I won't be street racing(; but in all seriousness it will never see the track nor be used to race unless I gotta put a ricer in their place. Just want to make a slow progression of mods, am that starts with bolt ons for me. Idk if nitrous is considered bolt on or FI.

I can respect that. Nitrous is definitely forced induction, just done chemically instead if mechanically like a blower

Some people call it "chemical induction." But yes.

I'd do Lid, Catback, Y-Pipe, Longtubes, 3.73's, and perhaps just a mail order tune from frost.

Will have you closer to $1200 but would make for a fun daily driver Could save some money and just do longtubes/y-pipe and throw a cutout on the ypipe to save about $250-300. If you could spare the change for a stall you'll really be cooking. I literally just listed what's done to my car except I have a yank ss3600 stall and I tune on it myself with the help of a friend. I ditched my 400-500whp talon for this car. With just bolt ons and stall my t/a isn't as fast but feels amazing even compared to the dsm.

If you have 3.23's factory you could forgo the 3.73's if you wanted. I'd still prefer them but the 3.23's aren't as bad as the 2.73's. I had 2.73's and it was horrible. My car prior to last weekend was bone stock with 59k miles and could only manage a best of 14.0@102mph because it couldn't get out of the hole to save it's life thanks to the 2.73s
