I'm looking to buy an OEM 98-02 SS hood and spoiler for my 98 Z-28.. I'm going to look at a spoiler for sale locally from an SS being parted out, how can I tell if it's a genuine/OEM SS spoiler? as well as for a hood when I find the right one in the future? thanks guys! I just don't want to be lied to that it's OEM stuff and be tricked into buying aftermarket.. Not too experienced with that type of stuff so I felt it was definitely worth asking on here.

The oem SS hoods and spoilers are made from SMC (sheet molded compound). A true oem hood will have a circle in the middle of the hood back by the cowl area with made in Canada and will have a SLP number engraved under the hood latch or hood strut bracket. Also the hood will be made of several pieces bonded together and not one big part like a aftermarket hood. The spoiler will be engraved under one of the mounts. Also they will be much heavier than a aftermarket part. Here's a picture of a oem SS hood. Good luck.
