Default Ls6 cam on 02 ws6

Does anyone have an ls6 cam setup in their 2002 ws6 6speed? What kind of gain did you guys get? Also do you guys have stock 241s or 243/799 heads?

i have the ls6 cam and its real mellow , you cant really tell i have a cam. positives smooth as stock idle; negative i left a significant amount of power on the table. with your stick i'd recommend a 228 cam just my one cent. ps upgraded springs are a must!

sell it and go with a 224-228 at the min. Ls6 cam wont really require a stall, and I think a 228 can get away without a stall as well but most guys who get the baby cams wish they had gone bigger.

no, not with just that cam and a mild build.

and secondly don't be concerned with dyno numbers, worry more about how it performs on the street.

My plans are some longtube headers and ory, gmmg exhaust, slp ud pulley, slp lid, stock ported throttle body, 85mm maf from corvette, milled 243 heads and ls6 cam, my car also comes with the ls6 intake and then with a good tuned

Its still a no. You are talking basic bolt ons but the ls6 cam never dyno's high. Look at the cam specs compared to the stock cam, then look at the stock cam vs a 224/228 and you will get a better picture on why. The ls6 "hotcam" is a mild improvement over the stock cam, now the 228 cam and other entry-level cams have been shown to get cars into the 380 range if all you care about is numbers. Remember that just throwing a cam in a car doesn't ensure improved performance, optimal builds match each part's strengths and weaknesses and perform well together. For example your going to use a stock TB, and a 85mm maf. why? Your stock TB cant flow 85mm and neither can your intake so even though your MAF can doesn't mean your whole intake track will, the entire system can only flow as well as its narrowest point. Further more the stock MAF is good until 450-500 HP theres not much reason to replace it unless you are going to a FAST system with upgraded lid. Or **** it go SD. it sounds like you need to do some research and plan out a mod list with better info, use the search function theres a lot of good data on here.

224, 228, or if you want a more aggressive setup the 228/232 or a VRX3 from vengeance. The latter will most certainly help you hit your number goal, but if the car is an auto you will need a stall and supporting mods.

LS6 isnt bad cam just very mild, call a vendor and tell him your goals etc. and see what they come up w/ for you. Asking here your only going to get opinions.

My LS6 cam dyno file is attached. stock 2005 LQ9 6.0, cheap pacesetter headers, SLP 2OTL catback, LS6 intake, LS6 cam, 7.425 pushrods, LS6 valve springs, 3:90s gears. Dyno tuned. No cutout or underive pulley. With the 3:90 gears it was a very fun setup.

Do some research and dont listen to the BS replies in this thread.
LS6 cam and boltons is 375-385 all day long. LS6 cam, 243s and boltons is 395-405 all day long. The LS6 cam makes for a very nice setup.
If you want a lopey idle, then dont use the LS6 cam.

No cats. The catback on this setup was a SLP 2OTL that I had custom fab work done to have the tail pipes exit the WS6 bumper cutouts. Best sounding catback with headers and no cats for the Fbody. Flows awesome too.

You do the LS6 cam, 243 heads, the basic boltons (lid, ported TB and UD pulley) Gears, and a dyno tune you'll make in the ball park 400rwhp, idle like stock, still get great gas mileage and pull hard up to 6800rpm.

I started out with a decent size cam which was a Comp XER 230/230 110 cam, then went bigger to a G5X3 (232/240)112, then went even bigger to a G5X4 240/244 on a 111 LSA then went much smaller to my last setup with the LS6 cam. The LS6 cam doesnt offer much gain over the LS1 cam until about 4300 rpm, then the LS6 cam takes off. Thats why I highly recommend a set of gears with the LS6 cam.

LS6 cam vs LS1 cam dyno. Stock heads.
