traction control question.
definite newbe question. anyway- i just got a 98 formula a4. i don't even know if it has traction control- i can't find a button or anything but when the key is in the on position and the car is not on the "traction control off" lights up so im guessing it has tcs.
if it has it how do i turn it off/get rid of it? i would just go out and try to do a burnout but the car has out of state inspection and no tag on it- so bad idea..

If you've got traction control, there should be a switch on your dashboard to disable it. You'd have to push the button everytime you start the engine, because it's "on" by default. Also, you can tell it's on when you try to do a burnout and the throttle pedal pushes back.

Right above the shifter and below the AC controls there should either be a switch or a little cubby hole....if you don't have the switch you don't have TCS. All instrument clusters have the TCS in them however so that may be what you are seeing.
Here is where the TCS switch would be...
