Default How much RWHP does a stock 98 WS6 have?

I was curious how much RWHP does a stock 98 Trans Am WS6 have because I plan to get my car dynoed sometime soon, and I already have put mods into the car, but I didn't spend the extra bucks to get my car dynoed before I did the mods. I want to be able to compare the results to what the car has stock, has anyone dynoed theirs stock or can anyone give my some close numbers? Thanks a lot

Stephanie, you will probably be responded a dozen times to use the "search button".

But I beleive the RWHP is around 310 HP.

Hope that helps.

a stock 1998 should put around 300 to the wheels, some as low as 285 others as high as 310

I will by dynoing my car soon, and put it all back to stock, minus the catback, to see what she will put down, before i start tuning her.

I understand that, but i tried using the search and i really didnt come up with anything stock. It basically came up with how much the modded car has now with what is kept stock on it. I tried a couple times and wasn't getting much luck, I felt like a new post would be easier than trying to search for hours. But thanks again, the feedback really helps

the estimate above is correct..

figure a solid number to be at about 295rwhp..
thats what I think average would be at for a 1998..

what mods you doing or going to do?

mind you TX-SS ls6 intake on your car helps you out quite a bit

but dont worry girl, stock can vary as said from 290 to 310, and maybe even more.... depending if you have a freak car or not.

Glad to see that our new members are consisting of younger people like myself!!

I am only 19 and work for the site.

good luck with the dynoing and further modding process!

yep, the ls6 will give 10 to 18 hp...

but mind you that is peak increase... but it outflows the ls1 intake in the mid and low ranges as well!

Just pick up the GM high tech magazine and read there article testing on the ls1, ls6, 6.0 intake, ling./weiand, and LSX intake. Very good stuff

For mods, just about 15 minutes ago I ordered the Kooks headers/ypipe w/magnaflow cats. I already have the SLP LM exhaust, along with the g2 airlid. I think its a good start to a car I just got in Feb!

Sounds like you have a badass car on your hands- good luck w/ your dyno run!!! Prepare for the worst but expect the best so you aren't disappointed if they are a little low- you never really can tell what the #'s are gonna be. For example, I know a guy that has a WS6, w/ lid, catback, headers, throttle body and slicks and he ran the same time as me (no slicks, no headers, no TB) at the track (and 7 less MPH) at the track and he wasn't too happy. No two Fbods are the same... Hope you got a strong 1.

Girls and fbodies

BTW, Gray- long distance relationships suck... She'll get so much attention in that WS6 that she'll cheat on you with another fbody owner!

haha i love my car. I know, i'm expecting around 330 rwhp. I hope the numbers will be higher but i dont expect it. When I bought this trans am in Feb, the guy that owned it before took very good care of her, always running 93 octane and mobil 1 every 3500 miles, rotated the tires and kept up very well with it. He also has the receipts for everything he ever did with the car, including the reciepts for the oil and filters. He also had 2 other trans ams, one thats an 86 that he shows (beautiful car- parts of the engine are 24K gold) and a 2002 ws6 (he is a very big enthusiest). He sold me the car so he can buy a new heated/air conditioned trailor for his 86 TA.
Anyways...I got the 1 3/4" Kooks. I was just seeking advice on what size, I really don't plan on doing any internal engine mods so I was suggested the 1 3/4". Ken at East Side Performance is installing them when I get them. LS1tech has helped me a lot and I've only been on for less than a month. Before I registered, I had no clue on what to get for headers, etc. By the way BigBronco, I'm very suprised someone so young as yourself (like me) works for this site, I would be proud of myself and your cars I see you have listed.

You should take it to the track in Epping NH on a Wed or Fri night for street night and Race it. I might be going with a couple of guys tomorrow Wed 7/14. Longshot and his 03 cobra 413rwhp and DaBigJC with his 98 Z28 with 415 rwhp.
