Default How to tune a 98?

Well Guys I've been searching and searching and I'm not getting any closer, can I just ask some basic questions? What are the tuning tools available for the 98 F-Bodies? I've read that they are different than the 99's and up, is that right? Is there a web site that explains your tuning options? Thanks - Tom

I used HP Tuners. Try local message boards, or the regional forum here. I found somebody locally to tune mine so I didn't have to purchase the software.

Hey guys even if u find a sponsor and think its too far, you might want to try their mail order tuning, just let them know what u have on your car, and they will tune it and ship it back to you.

Or you can find someone locally to tune it for you, since tuning is not that easy.

So LS-1 edit is one such tool, are there others? I'm new to the world of LS-1's so I just don't know. In the Turbo Buick world you monitor 02 volts, KR , etc... with either Direct Scan, Turbo Link, or Scanmaster typically. Then if you want to make changes in the cars fueling or spark or any such thing, you have someone who is a chip maker burn you an e-prom chip. You pop it in and monitor the car through your scan tool. Now that being said I have a friend with a 2002 Z06, he has a device called a preditor that lets him talk to the car and change the computer settings, so what are all the devices that are available for the 98 LS-1 Camaro? If I know them all then I can start doing my homework. Thanks for the replies. - Tom

currently, your going to want to get the hptuners, as it is the only available tuner/scanner in 1 for the 1998 cars.

I have a predator, and it gives limited scanning abilities, not enough to tune from, imho.

LS1 edit is the actuall tuner, you can make changes to just about anything you want to in the PCM, its NOT a scanner though. HP tuners is a scanner(02 volts kr ect ect) and a tuner in one.
