Default Service Engine Soon light came on :(

And I took it to the mechanic and it gave me this code: P1153

Didnt have enough time to have the determine exactly what it was cuz i had to go to work. But what do you guys think?

I have a 99 Z28.

Just erase it and forget about it. no big deal

it is just because of your headers and exhaust.

The mechanic said it might be the MAF or oxygen sensors, and if thats the case, it could be killin my gas mileage. Which i figuere might be true, since my car is getting about 20mpg (total highway, traffic and street driving).

Lets suppose it IS my MAF...can I still run my car for a while (like a few months) without getting this fixed? Reason I ask is because I eventually would like to mod my MAF and throttle body anyway..just dotn have the cash to do it now.

It is not your MAF

I had that code about 2 months ago, it is just your 02 sensor not getting hot enough or enough air past it so it reads lean or somthing.

there is nothing wrong with your car just get it erased and forget about it.

if you still dont want to take my word do a search on that code

oh no...i trust u bro, and I have done a search for the code...but its all too technical for me to understand what the **** everything on these tech manuals are talking about

Well thats good to hear, cuz other than that the car is running just fine and in fact seems to be getting better gas milage this past week.

I have the same problem. My car runs fine (as far as I know), but I haven't taken it to a tech yet to have them find out what code it is. Half the time the SES light is on, and the other half the light is off. Seeing the mods I have so far, can anyone tell me what the code might be for?

I pulled code po430 (catlist efficency below threshold) last week. i took my car in to the dealership for this problem as the cats are warrantyed for 8yrs 80,000miles. anyway i pick it you yesterday with the new cat on bank 2, it runs better- there is a noticable increase in power & gas mileage. im fixin to do away with my cats in a month or two when it get my true dual setup, but untill then i didnt like seing the SES light. plus it was free for me to have fixed.
