GU5 is 3.23
GU2 is 2.73

Look on the sticker on your driver's side door.

Also, the search button does wonders.

Check your door codes GU2 is 2:73 and GU5 is 3:23 or 3:42 not sure about that one. Try doing a search in the gear and axle forum helped me out.

LMAO you should have looked some of us up. And yes, it is amazing here..... Amazingly expensive that is. Average mean price for a single family home is around half a million dollars now. The house I'm renting is 1100sq ft, 2 bed, 1 bath, and it's valued at $435,000. You want San Diego, you can have it. It is nice other than that though.

And thanks for the tip guys. I'll go check that out.

how can you tell him to search, and when you showed him an example, GU5 was in your search title? Like he is supposed to know what the hell GU5 is! That's why he's asking because he has no idea how to check. What is he supposed to search for? Gears? Like he wouldn't get a million possible threads... bad example.

Oh yeah. The condo I stayed at is right on the pacific in Mission Bay. It was $5K per week. Turn out it was worth $6 million.

Everything else is reasonable except housing. It's logical though. You pay for living in paradise...at least compared to MI it's paradise.

capt - post your gear ratio so we can get this back to tech talk or one of the bully mods might lock it.

So, on the sticker that says "Service Parts Identification" if it says GU5 I have 3.23's.....wow, this could have solved a lot of problems for me. How about an LS6 intake? Or did any pre '01 cars come with those?

no pre 01 cars came with an LS6 intake, and it really isn't a good 'first couple of mods' type mod to do. Make sure you have full exhaust, and then work intake w/ lid being first.

A H/C car can benefit from a LS6 intake. I wouldn't do it until at least a cam is thrown in the mix.

cerebrex is right. '01 & '02's came with the LS6 intake manifold.

Tell me about it. We're probably going to be moving back east in a year or two. My wife is a teacher, so moving has to be timed around the school years. And another plus to being out east, is I can finally go w/ some nice Long Tubes, and a decent cam and tell C.A.R.B. (Califonia Air Regulation Board) to **** off. Onto the tech stuff. I found the sticker you guys were telling me about, and it tells me I have the 2.73's. Which is kind of a relief to tell you the truth. I was thinking I had the GU5, and thought my car should have been faster. What other cool info can I gleen from that sticker. I see what looks to be 50 or 60 codes there.

I was transferred from San Diego to Wichita 11 years ago. My $225,000 house there is now worth $675,000. My $225,000 house here is still worth $225,000. Needless to say, I won't be moving back. In any case, thank God you have 3.23s. 2.73s are miserable. How do I know? I've had both. Had to swap the 2.73s out for 3.42s.

It is crazyness. Too bad you couldn't have held onto the SD house till now to sell eh? The breakdown is pretty much 'the one's who bought 4 years ago + are now rich and happy, and the ones who are trying to break into the market now are poor and out of luck' Oh, East Coast here I come. I do have the 2.73's though. How big a difference did you feel when you made the switch? How about gas too? LOL another worry I can leave behind me in Cali. $2.50 for a gallon of gas. (Actually it's come down a lot over the past 2 weeks. I think it's closer to $2.30 now) Until now I wasn't willing to consiter a gear swap, because I thought I had the 3.23's.... but maybe now I have some cheap speed to be had.

I wouldn't worry about the 2.73's for now. If and when you are ready to swap them, don't go to a 3.23 or a 3.42. Do some research, but a 3.73 or a 4.10 is the way to go IMO. 4.10's are tough with nitrous...just do some research.
