Default SS hoods

How can you tell a real SS hood from a fake. ALso, what were the factory SS hoods made out of. Were SLP hoods fiberglass or are they a thin metal layer or what. Plz reply asap.

if you look on the inside you will see two Ram Horn style passages that redirect the airflow to the factory airbox. the real SS hoods say MADE IN CANADA and have the Patent # as well .

My factory SS hood is fiberglass. I don't know the differences between originals and repops.

Actual stamping towards passenger side(GM markings),and bad part is that it is actually heavier then the stock steel hood, sumbitch

An actual SS hood is a lot heavier than most aftermarket hoods. I have a Suncoast hoo and it is very light even compared to the regular Z28 hood. The scoop on an original also tends to have a lower profile than many aftermarket hoods. The aftermarket hoods also have the horn shaped air passages. At least mine does. If it is a functional hood it should have these, for what function there actually is any way (not much). It's all looks!

only one SLP fiberglass hood. Remember that these hoods were put on the cars by SLP , not GM.

My SS hood is fiberglass, but I think it is fiberglass on metal. Not sure.

Ok the SS hood is fiberglass, and the Z28 hood is metal so I dont think you can get that confused.
