Default What is this? (Picture)

I was looking under my hood today, and I saw something that seems wrong. I have attached a picture which shows what I am talking about. It is some sort of hose that seems not to be attached to whatever it should be attached too. In the pic it is in the center of the red circle (the hose has a blue end). What does this do, and what does it mean that is is not connected? Also, the hose it very brittle when I felt it. I hope I explained this enough, because I do not know too much about cars yet, but I am trying. Thanks!

It looks like its going to your EGR valve, can't really tell though. If it indeed goes to the EGR, it needs to be attached.

You don't have any hoses going to the egr, there are just two metal tubes... One from the manifold to egr mounting plate & one from the mounting plate to the intake... These two tubes are made onto the plate itself & are bolted to the manifold & intake... It's kinda hard to tell in the pic on what the hose looks like that your describing.

Well look at that.... sorry man, I didn't look close enough the first time. MM98 is right. The EGR is the braided line just the the right of your red circle. Sorry for the conclusion jumping.

It dosent attach to anything...I was looking at mine its just a heat wrap / shield so your headers/ manifolds dont get the metal tubing hot. The blue part is like a washer to keep the shielding from unraveling.

I got some better pictures today. In the first one, I have a close up of the hose and the connector which I am talking about. The second one has circled the top of what the connector seems to talk to. Anybody know what this hose does, and what it connects to? If it is shielding something, should I just push it back on to the connector? I know, im paranoid

Yeah, its just the shielding for the EGR hose. No need to be paranoid, my 98 didn't even come with the shielding.
