Default Anyone that knows of aftermarket hoods COME IN!!!

I was driving home today when my hood just all of a suddens flies back, hits my windshield, cracking it a little, unhinges and literally SHATTERS my passenger side T-Top. So needless to say I'm in need of a hood. It's for a 2002 Z28. Anyone know of an inexpensive place I could find one?? I'm thinking about just getting a SS hood. I'm also going to get those locks, I'm thinking that the hinge in front of the air lid just gave way. I made sure that it was closed correctly and securely. And if anyone knows of a place where I can replace the passenger T-Top for a good price let me know. Thanks

I had an altercation with a deer and bought an OEM type hood from Body Parts of America for somewhere around $300. If you opt for a fiberglass hood then overall w/paint and such you will pay a lot more. Some aftermarket speciality hood manufacturers will only ship to a body shop (even though you're paying for it) I guess to make sure it's installed correctly after painting.
Hope this helps.

try EBay. they have used T-Tops and hoods for sale...then you can just pay to have it repainted.

2002 huh?
It should still be under warranty.

If that is the stock hood, they should cover replacing it and fixing the damage it caused. That is what a warranty is for.

If that is an aftermarket hood, it should have a warranty from its manufacturer.

This cars been through about 3 different owners and was pretty much their piñata. I think the warranty has been voided because of that. I got it off a local car lot/body shop. Right now I don't care about the paint job... AND I don't really trust ebay. Heard way too many stories and I have that type of luck that they'll end up sending me one of those spinning tops that has a T on it. I guess I'm going to have to just hit the junk yards. Thanks anyways. OH, and a word of advice, GET LOCKS. Don't trust those damn hinges.

I think as long as the car's under 3 years old and 36k miles, it should still be warrantied whether you're the original owner or not.

51k miles now. The people before me put 26 thousand miles by the time I got a hold of it. Close to 2003... The funny thing about all this is that a couple of days ago I had a dream that my car was messed up,but it was a convertible. There was a HUGE whole through the rag top and fender damage. Weird...

Yea, I saw a Z28 with one at the track. It looked nice but I don't have the money for it. Someone told me he would sell me one off his Z28 for 150. Thing is it has a couple dents. If you know where I can get a cowl hood FOR CHEAP and no more than 2"-3" inches high, let me know.

I wasn't big on the SS hoods on a Z28 either, but HELL, an SS hood on a Z28 is better than NO hood on a Z28.

Check out the Parts For Sale section:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/lsx-parts-sale-45/
Sometimes there are some hoods and t-tops listed there.
