Default How Hard is Racing on Your Car?

I'm just wandering cuz ive had my 98 Trans Am...two weeks and ive raced it 3 times .....is this bad on our cars..

btw this should be in racing stories..part of this forum

but...the 3 races were against the same car a 69 Mustang with a 351 Cleveland..all 3 times he was Wasted..we went 0-100...i was ahead of him the whole time all 3 times we raced 3 times...cuz he said he lost cuz of his bad start..2 times then the 3rd time hes like im gonna learn to race then we can race again ...i waas like..LEARN TO RACE!!! HMMM...it ain't rocket science....

So was racing 3 times within 10 min bad on my car???

should i quit that..

MY QUESTION IS HOW BAD IS RACING ON MY CAR!!!!i want to race..but im worried of the outcome...of racing my car continuously

Since our cars are made w/ roller rockers they are basically built to take racing. I dont think racing 3 times in a row will hurt you as long as you take care of ur car u will b fine. I dont think their are many ls1's out their they dont get a beating most of their life.

Not to take anything away from ur win, im sure u would have waxed him anyway but learning to drive is a BIG part of racing when ur running from a dig. Especially when a stick.

Well a 351 Cleveland isn't much of a motor in stock form anyways.

GOOD KILL!! Racing isn't hard on these cars(you don't have to do a John Force burnout) to have a good time on the track.Sounds like he had plenty of excuses ready.Keep the fluids clean and full, and she should be o.k., and of course always use common sense!!.

not when on the 2nd and 3rd race i gave him a 5-6 car head start.. LOL...that is just really sad driving!!...i guarantee if i woulda traded him cars...i woulda..been a hell of a lot closer than he was..i dunno what his problem was...he watched to many movies..i think..cuz off the line...all i woudl hear from his car is tires screeching then id wizz by him..then in my mirror all id see is white smoke!!...on the 2nd race i got..dude ease..into it don't fucken jam your petal to the floor..hes like ok...and he still Does a huge *** burnout.....some people just shouldn't own cars with an engine...point blank..

this kid also..says..if a ricer ever comes up to him.. with a fast looking civic or something if he has nos...he'd trade him straight up for his stang......

btw his dad bought him the mustang ....he woulda went ricer by now if it wasn't for that..

Depends on what kinda of clevelend. If its a 2V (two barrel carb and intake, smaller heads) than in the stock form it will put down about 270 hp and about 340 torque. If is a 4V (four barrel carb, intake and huge heads flow 321 CFM at .550 lift) than its gunna put down about 300 hp and 380 torque. The good and bad thing about the 4V heads is that they are deep breathing, power doesnt really come into until lik 3000rpm than they take off lol. Thats the heads I plan on using when I do my 396 cleveland, its def going to make some big power with those heads lol. Hope that helps.

you probably werent being as hard as i was.this was a guy i really wantd to beat so i pegged it and stayed in it.one time i just sat there spinning and went sideways in the cloud of smoke.i probably shouldnt have stayed in it like that but the smoke and marks looked awesome, wish i hadthe camera for that one!it just really scared me to see it as high as it was,not that it was even that high.im just a worry wart.point is,if youre hard on anything, day in and day out,its gonna brake or just get ragged out.im saving my playin for saturday nights only, now.

Do you have a 98? I herd thats the only year the temp gauge actually worked right. Mine never leaves 210 after 2 mins of driving.

One thing I wonder about is how hard it is on the tranny. Most people never have a trans temp gauge until they get a converter though. All I know is that I did a nice long rolling burnout in a parking lot with my ET streets last night and i saw the trans temp gauge moving up FAST. It went from below 150 to around 200 in no time, and the engine coolant was not even to 200. It makes me wonder how quickly it heated up while stock when I was pulling stuff like that with no cooler and no way to keep track of trans temps

mines a 2002 Z28,and i havent ever had any heat problems except fopr what the guage said.so maybe it was wrong,my car didnt drive any different afterwards, and the gauge went down pretty fast.it was just a little shock seeing it past the 210 mark.

Only '98 models have a truly accurate temperature gauge. The later years it is basically known for having three readings: Cold, operating temp, and almost overheating.

If its of any comfort, I have over 200 time slips in my glove box, plus a lil street racing Nothings broke as of yet, besides a severe case of missing rubber
