Default a battery of header queries

ive heard the best design is QTP, Kooks, and PPC
-are there any of these grotyohann-style that are aluminized?
i want to cut down on weight.
or will they fall apart?
is stainless a better idea?

what is more beneficial,
-high-velocity merge collectors or a stepped (3/4 to 7/8) design?
i dont care about low end because ive already sacrificed 4000rpm of it.
anyone getting interesting results from either one or are they just gimmicks?

i plan to make low 400's n/a and low 600's on the bot-ul

last,
-will the addition of an x pipe make more power over open headers?

im lost!

um if you want to cut down on weight, get someone to build you a set of $4,000 titanium headers. other then that, if you want the best headers, get stainless steel. they're the best quality. they don't fall apart, period.

kooks AND qtp are variants of the grott design. thunder racing used to have headers made for them that were in the grott design family as well, but they're not in production for lack of a manufacturer right now.

stepped is good, especially for higher horsepower motors. high velocity merge collectors are an item up for debate, some like them, some don't. if you have the $$$ to spend on them, why not. people have seen some nice gains from them.

Take a look at Stainless Works. I just put on a set. High quality, easy installation, 304 Stainless, excellent clearance.

if you want to cut weight headers arent the most cost effective way to do it. qtp with the HV have shown great results. also depends on the rest of your setup though.

at what hp level does high velo merge collectors or stepped help?
both options in edelbrock sound great! BUT
are edelbrocks headers stainless?
more importantly,
is edelbrocks design equal length long long tube like grot/qtp/ppc?

if not,
cant i get kooks headers w/ a/m hv merge collectors?

the wife says i cant get the cam until i get headers.

are you serious?

okay, if you have a cutout right before the muffler
it will sound like-
the car has no muffler!
which is close to a loudmouth,
but deeper and less refined.
ive heard both.
before i got the GMMG,
i just disconnected the muffler and left it hanging on the side held up by a makeshift exhaust hanger made from a metal clotheshanger i stole from my sister. do that if youre cheap like me. btw, ive heard the lt1 will always sound "better" than the ls1 with similar setups because iron block this and firing order that.

*jacks thread back*

so about those headers..
edelbrock if they are grot ripoffs
if not kooks, and can i add high velo merge collectors?
or do the headers have their own collector and shouldnt be messed with?
