Default Opinion Corvette OR Camaro

Ok I have a 98 SS and a 01 Z28 I made the Z more looks then anything its my avatar with just bolt ons. The SS has the more serious parts but some of which are not yet installed like cam , new gears , and a NOS kit. With the jet hot headers and y-pipe, slp lid, L/M exhaust untuned it made 315hp so you see where the SS stands. Do i keep it and continue fixing it up or should i trade it in on a vette with a LS1? I know parts are gonna be a bit more but which car will like the parts more and hold up better? Is my SS pretty much a vette and a camaro shell as far as performance goes? I am just unsure what to do please give me opinions.

I think most people that had to make a choice between a Vette and a Camaro would instantly pick a Corvette. The Corvette is a different type of car than an f-body, a sports car, and the Camaro is a muscle car. Since you will still have a Camaro, it seems like a no-brainer to have a Vette and a Camaro rather than two Camaros. Both cars dyno about the same, but the Corvette is more aerodynamic and handles much better, plus the C5 has more charisma and is a better chick magnet. If you can't make this decision, it seems that you have much appreciation for the Corvette. JMHO.

I would keep the ss you can make it faster than a vette and not pay so much money on the car and insurance. Don't get me wrong the corvette's are sweet.

I have both.

The Z28 is easier and more fun to mod.
The Z28 is quieter when driving.
The Z28 is more stable at high speed.
The Z28 has more storage space that is easily accessable.
The Z28 has more ground clearance.
The Z28 is FAR more practical as a sole means of transportation.

The Vette is FAR sexier!
The Vette is lighter.
The Vette handles curves better.
The Vette has a higher quality feel.
The Vette has alot more bells and whistles.
The Vette is FAR sexier!

Yeah! You just got that right? Congrats, glad to hear it for you!

In regards to the rest of the thread...I'd get a 'vette. Since you already have a camaro why not? That way you could road race with the best of em and have fun at the strip. Seems like the 'vette would be the best idea to maximize the fun factor.

My z06 is $200 cheaper a month on insurance than my 99 Trans am was.

I LOVE f-bodies, but the vette is just in a different league.

Also, heads up display is THE COOLEST feature. It's like having your own built in shiftlight + more.

You mention having a Z06, so I know it's not Fairway Green, but did you used to own a Fairway Green 97 or 98? That is my favorite C5 color!

I drive a Z28 and my dad has an 03 C5. Driving a vette is just the best experience -it seems like it anticipates what you're about to do steering wise because its so easy to control. It handles awesome but still has excellent ride quality. Another big plus is its much smaller and easier to navigate around town not having that huge *** front end like the camaro. Every time I drive that vette it makes me like my camaro a little less. Get a vette!

IF... the camaro is not your 'daily driver', sell it and use the $$$ for modifying the vet. Either way - buy the vet.

I have one of each. The SS is a dedicated drag car now but I did put 28,000 miles on it in the first 2 years of ownership.Camaro strong points are it's quieter, solid axle, easier to work on and cheaper. The Z06 when cleaned up,just oozes badassness(is that a word?)sitting still. When you row through the first 4 gears at WOT you get to feel the HUGE difference in the stock performance of these 2 cars.Camaros are for dragging, vettes are awesome road-course cars and have the pimp daddy factor on the looks part.

Having owned a '96 WS6 prior to my C5, I would get a Vette again hands down. I loved my F-body and they are great cars, but the Vette is superior in many ways. Take one for a test drive. And one thing I will disagree with here is the F-body being more stable at speed. My C5 has seen 178 and is far more stable at speed than my f-body ever was. No offense Colonel, just my personal observations.

if you plan to build a drag car, stick with the ss, if you want a sexy street machine just to cruise in, get the vette

Corvette. A few years ago, I would have said Camaro, then mod the hell out of it, but I'm now of the opinion that you should start off with the best possible platform and build from there.

In my case, I had an '85 Monte Carlo SS that I had grand plans for. Headers, crate motor, etc. Then I stopped and realized I could get all the horsepower I was after AND a warranty if I bought a new Z. I have no regrets about my decision.

Starting with a 'Vette and going up from there would be my choice.
