Default 2003 Cobra Motor in a LS1?

Hey everyone i got a question me and my buddy were in an argument the other day, cause i was telling him i want to build like a 382 stroker LS1 for my 99 SS..and he was like thats not gonna be to driveable on the street, and its my only car. Then he said that he talked to a guy that put a 2003 cobra motor in his 95 Z, with the t-56 and all that, and that he modded it and everything, and the car is a monster. Now im trying to find out for sure if he did this or not, and im not considering doin this, but is it possible do u think? i kinda think it would be pretty bad *** in all honesty..thanks everyone

You could put an Abrhams tank motor in a F-body if you had enough money. It would look like that car Leno had built though.

I dont understand why the stroker motor wouldnt be good on the street. Just depends on how you build it. Like what size cam especially. I think its a crazy idea to put a ford motor into a chevy. Just my thought

IF you build up that ford motor it would be just as "undrivable" as the 382

hahaha i know you're kiddin but i just got out of the army and i spent my entire three years as an m1a2 abrams tanker. those ******* are huge. their motors/trannys take up half the hull space(well, the final drives take up 15% of the rear so i take that back). their motors alone weigh more then an f-body. governed they make 1500hp tho....you let them go and they'll make upwards of 2500-3000hp. its a modified huey turbine engine.

but back to the real thread topic, you can easily build a 383 stroker(or a 382 all bore) and have it be streetable. its all in the cam specs and the stalls or gears. if u want it to be tolerable, it can be built to be tolerable. anything can be. its all in what u want. no offense but your friend is a jackass and knows not of what he speaks of.

I always thought that if you put a chevy motor in a ford it would run better, not the other way around

You guys crack me up. I did see it done once. When I was looking to buy my car, I came across one that a guy built (it was a 3rd gen) Claimed to be a 13 second car and on the big cowl hood (I'd guess 2.5-3") it said proudly "Powerd By Ford" in blue text. I had to write the guy, but I also had to Not buy his car.

cough::9-inch::cough thats the only ford part i would put in mine. i went and picked up our spare car (92 saturn) from some guys who did a clutch job on it and they had a fox body stang in the driveway on slicks. i was snoopin around under the hood a little and noticed the hole for the distributer was in the back by the firewall. i ask "powered by chevy?" and the guy says "yep" and i say , "good plan".

You might be hunted down and beaten savagely if you put a Ford motor in a Chevy. It's a sin. In fact i'm pretty sure it's in the bible.

I'm just guessing here, but off hand I'd say a '03 Cobra motor won't fit in a LT1 fbody. The heads are friggin' huge.

DITTO!

Not to mention couldn't you buy like a ZZ series crate engine and toss in there? At least then you would be true to the gospel

BTW: It goes: Baseball, Hotdogs, Alpple Pie and Chevrolet!

Agreed. Those 4.6 DOHC motors are f'n monstrous. It would be a helluva lotta work to squeeze one into a 4th gen. Definately would only be done for the "coolness" factor. And a 382 LS1 would be perfectly streetable, BTW. No need for that 4.6.

Once again, why put a Ford engine in a GM? Personally, I would NEVER do that. Particularly if it's a car I had to rely on daily! That's just me....

Speaking of Cams. I ran into a guy the other day that said he had a 96 or 97 SS (can't remember the year) that had special heads and had 4 cams. He said less that 12 were built maybe 7 or so. Was there such a car? It cost close to $50,000.
