Default attn mods and all members: can we restrict access without registering?

I dont know if this has been proposed to the moderators before, but I just want to throw it out there and see what everyone thinks and if it might be what we, the board as a whole, feel about the situation.

I am getting tired of people, who know who I am talking about, lurking around on the board and reading whats going on...making random posts that do bring amusment to me but are sometimes a pain in the ****. If they see something they dont agree with they make their 3 or 4 posts and dissapear. By leaving access to the board open it just encourages those ricers, and the like, to come in and taunt, torment, and troll around. If we can make it so you cannot view the forums unless you register, I think we can minimize most of the annoyances we have been seeing lately. Secondly, I love flaming those that come on here and say their 26 second civic beat an LS1, who dosnt. That is one of the reasons I come on here everyday, to hopefully come accross someone so ignorant to say such idiotic things. But those one and two post trolls really get on my nerves.

If they really want to post that up and read whats going on in our world, they can...if they register. What does everyone think about this. Take the poll and lets figure out if we want to do something like this. If you choose other, post up your proposed plan.

Thanks.
Fry

I think it would save them bandwidth costs, but it might cost them membership, which in turn could cost them sponsorship money.

Leave this up to the people in charge, they don't need our $0.02 to make their dime.

Dude its just a suggestion. If thats the reason why the mods dont want to do it, then more power to them. I would like to hear it directly from them though, just for informational purposes though.

Thanks all,
Fry

If people are posting..they must be registered. If they are just browsing..maybe they are learning/researching.

I realize if they posted, then they are registered. If people want to learn, then they can register, thats what I did and I know most enthusiasts on here did the same. But what I am saying is by letting everyone read whats going on, then we get trolls from the s.r.t. forum, and the fart can forums. They just come over and waste our time, and the mods bandwidth and drive space.

Yes, that is exactly what I am proposing. I just get tired of the people who come in and post one time to say their 16 second import just took out an ls1. You all can say I am a dumbfuck, but the 'oneposters' are the dumbfucks. There are several other sites that dont allow you to view their forums without registering, I really dont see what the big deal is. One, it would boost the register rate (if that really matters at all), and two those little anoyances will mostly dissapear.

If I wasnt able to read and learn on this site before registering, I wouldn't be a member right now. How can you join something without knowing what it is first?

This is the internet, sometimes you just need to take it with a grain of salt (although somethimes that grain needs to be the size of a house).

eh.... they're all Nucking Futs.

BTW,
Yesterday, I noticed that someone with ZERO posts posted items for sale in the Parts For Sale section. This is right after the moderators listed a minimum post count. Also, HOW CAN YOU HAVE ZERO POSTS WHEN YOU JUST MADE A POST?

I don't know about all you guys, but I pretty much never join anything I can't view first. I probably spent 3 weeks reading posts before I became a member.

If you don't like something that's posted:

A) Reply
B) Ignore

It's simple.
