Which engine holds high mileage better, ls1 or lt1?
I am in the market for a T/A. Due to my financial situation, mine will probably have upwards of 60-80k miles . I want to know which engine holds hard driven mileage better ls1 or lt1. Also, which will last longer? (in both normal, and hard driven conditions) The engine should be well maintained. I want to have the car for as long as possible, so i want it to last. Thanks.

This was talked about in a past thread and got many respones, try a search, you will be able to read lots of info on owners current millage and so on. My car has 83,200 miles and still runs strong, I do up to date maintence, and I really tear into the car every know and then, especially weekends.

I bought a 94 Z28 6 speed new and love the car. My son drives that car, now has 90,000 miles. It's been great except for the Optispark, what a POS. I haven't had my 2001 that long, but after reading tons of stuff on both, my feelings are that the LT1 will live longer. Probably because it will spend more time at lower rpms. LS1's get spun up very tight. I have the redline on the LT1 at 6050 rpm and the LS1 is set at 6650. I think since the LS1 with a cam loves high rpms, that is what probably shortens their lives. If you were to put the rev limiter on a stock LS1 down at 5800 like a stock LT1 I bet they'd live the same.

There is an add on autotrader as we speak of a 94 M6 Z28 that was never titled (just search "anywhere" and you will find it, I think it was gray)
Isn't the block of the LS1 supposed to be stronger? 6 bolt aluminam vs. 2 bolt iron. The extra 4 bolts should cancel out the weaker material, right?
