LS1 Trans Am's
What is the difference between the T/A,the WS-6,and the Firehawk other than appearance..Because I am finding dirt cheap T/A's 6 speeds and I think I like the Ws-6 hood more, but I like how the Hawk hood doesnt have the piece across the middle...
Has anyone cut that piece off their Ws-6 hood? How does everyone think it would look?

This is a common question. A quick search will give you plenty of info.
Here is a quick breakdown in order of price (low to high)
1. Firebird (v6)
2. Firebird Formula (v8)
3. Firebird Trans Am (v8)
4. Firebird WS6 (available in Formula and WS6 depending on year)
5. Firebird Firehawk (available in Formula and WS6 depending on year)
Here is a quick breakdown in order of performance (low to high)
1. Firebird (v6)
2. Firebird Formula & Trans Am (Formula is slightly lighter and the hardtop version is more rigid)
3. Firebird WS6
4. Firebird Firehawk
Formula anything is not common. Formula WS6 and Formula Firehawk are rare (Especially a hardtop version)
From 98-2000 the WS6 was an actual performance upgrade (suspension <sway bars and springs> and engine <better breathing from ram air>) to the Formula and Trans Am. Later (2001-2002) it became more of an appearance package since some of the parts became standard and others were no longer available or were options. The Firehawk was always an upgrade to the Formula and Trans Am (1998-2001).
Other Points:
* The Formula could optioned up like like a T/A
* The Formula looks like the V6 model but has the same V8 and suspensions as the T/A
* Firehawks are uncommon.
Again, this was a really quick overview of the differences between the models from 1998-2001. A search on here will give much more detail.

ok so really the hawk has the slp package, intake exhaust suspension?
The Ws-6 after 2000 has the functional intake as well as better shocks and sway bars?
Basically what I need is just a decent base car, itll be a H/C 355,12 bolt, just a nice cruiser,im mainly worried about the looks...I loooovvee the looks of a Ws-6 hood its soo aggressive, but I like the hawk because its just open..
I just want to start getting a car ready so this winter i can yank the motor,i just dont know what to start with yet...

If you get the firehawk, it has the best suspension, and if you like that hood. You cannot cut the hood or even put the firehawk hood on a t/a or formula with out cutting on the nose peice. The firehawk evan had an optional high-torque (auburn) differential. Many different options...it depends on what you want to spend. The hawks are very expensive, esp the 02's (over priced IMO), but they are rare. The others are pretty common.
If you decide you want a hawk-- check out www.firehawk.org look in their for sale section, and general discussion (people are nicer there-but not as big of a crowd).
Good luck
