Default 0 oil pressure?

So I was driving the car and the oil pressure dropped to zero. Has this happened to anyone else? Is this a mechanical or an electrical problem? How do I fix it?

Thanks in advance for the help.

check your oil sending unit in the back of the intake, if it aint that then you prob will have to take the front plate cover off the engine and check for obstructions or check the oil pump. Either way don't drive the car till you know what it is other wise bie bie ls1, or what ever engine you got.

Also, there was a few dramas some ls1's over here had with the O ring on the pick up tube for the oil pump, but check sender first.

Did you continue to drive it? If so and it didnt start knocking, then most likely, your problem is the sending unit.

dude this is very simple to tell just feel the back of the intake on the driver side. There is a long cigar shape black sensor well thats your sending unit, if you have an ls1 intake then you won't even need to take the intake off. Well anyways just take that cigar shaped thing out go buy a new one, and see if it is the sending unit.

PS: o by the way you should be able to twist it right off, it screws into the back of the intake so if it's not to hard you should be able to screw it off with your hands, but iam not garanting that .

I just got done breaking off my oil pressure sender when installing my LS6 intake.. It too like a 27 mm socket or something like that to get the old one off.. then i have trouble getting the new one on tight enough because the socket wouldn't fit over the whole sending unit.. It wasn't hand tight when i took it off though.. Might be tough to get to... good luck

The oil pump broke. The engine is ok (I think). The two pieces inside the oil pump that fit together around the crank shattered. I have heard that the stock oil pump will sometimes malfunction, but damn. I replaced that ___ with one from TSP and it is working good so far.
