Question Help with Starter

Help guys,
I have just transplanted a LS1 , on trying to fire up for the first time I get the starter motor solenoid engaging but no starter motor rotation.
Can you offer some ideas of what to check for.
Looking onto terminals I have wired up :- Positive feed ( at 7-o-clock ) Start signal purple wire ( at 11-o-clock ) , Earth ( at 1-o-clock )

I am using Baker Electronix LIM module.
Thanks
Trevor

Hopefully the motor turns by hand ok, yes?
Do you know for sure the starter is good?
And is your battery capable of the current required? and charged fully?

BTW, say hello to Harry Potter for me...

Thanks for the responce ,
Yes to the motor turning by hand.
I fully charged battery overnight as that was a consideration even though it is a new one.
Battery feed cable probably bigger than original so thats OK.
I have pulled the starter as far out as I can, exhaust system permitting, with the same result - solenoid `clunk` but no rotation.
Can you confirm the wiring connections as correct as I am uneasy about them but cannot see any other connection possibilities for three terminals.

Question

Starter removed fully and bench tested.
The throw out gear certainly throws out ( which is the `clunk` )
But should it continue to rotate when engaged with the flywheel ?
This one certainly does not!

It's a bad starter. The connections are fine.
Sometimes the carbon from the brushes lock up the armature. You could try to clean it up, but it'll probably fail again in a few months.

Thank you for your advice.
New starter it is then which seems odd for such a low mileage engine.
This `6K` engine either already a faulty starter or had it swopped before shipping !

Well no one seems to have wired in a starter the other side of the pond.
The nett result of all my troubles is due to the earth wire !
It should not be there at all as the body acts as earth return.
2 wires only - Battery pos. & starter.

I had a similar problem when replacing the starter on one of my other cars. For me the problem was not electrical but mechanical: I had not aligned the "teeth" of the starter properly. I don't know if this will help any but it is an idea to think about.
