First z28, what mods now?
Well guys I can now same I am truely a happy man. Just got home with my 2000 z28 and love it. I was wanting some thoughts and suggestions about what to do next? It's completely stock even with the monsoon radio. I was looking to spend around $500 but have no idea where to start. Any suggestion guys? Please explain cause I am just learning about cars. Thanks.

1- Sub-frame connectors to prevent body flexion. Will keep the rattles away.
2- Aftermarket air lid (worth 5-10hp over stock lid).
3- Cat-back exhaust (3" I-pipe and free-flowing muffler, another 10hp).
4- LS6 intake (worth 5-10hp).
Then later, torque converter (if you have an automatic tranny) and gears (3.42's-3.73's for auto or 3.73's-4.10's for manual).
After that, long-tube headers (if emissions are not a concern).
For now, stay away from things like larger throttle body, mass air flow and 90mm intakes.
If you have a manual tranny, you can also disable the skip shift feature. Do a search with keywords like "skip-shift eliminator" and "resistor mod".
Good Luck and have fun!

Nothing wrong with the Monsoon if you're not a boom-boom
boy, IMO.
Mods you want, depend on the car and the driver. A4 or M6?
acceleration, handling, track, street? Stealth or raucous?
Datemobile or rocket sled? Free man or pawn of the State
(i.e. do they smog ya)?
A good radar detector (real good) wouldn't hurt.
Other than that, too many unknowns and not enough
equations.
Of course for $500 there are not all that many choices
to be made. Might look into the things you can do that
are cheap, free and/or more labor than expense. Not all
"free mods" are worth the time but some are. That goes
double for the ones that cost, though....
boy, IMO.

Thanks for the input. Yeah it's a M6. As of right now it's my everday car. Trying to get into police department so I want to keep it street legal. Looking to just have fun fixing it up and getting the most hp for my money like everyone else. Thanks again.

Get a lid for sure, it's probably one of the best dollar-to-power, plus easy to install mods you can do.

My mods in order are, Lid = 90 bucks, Pro 5.0 w/ short stick = 200, SFC installed = 170, total = 460. My car came with the SLP dual/dual which is quiet but still flows better than stock cat back. I would say do a cat back lid and sub frame connectors. I went with BMR tubular SFC so I wouldnt lose any ground clearance when I lower my car.

FTRA
direct-flo lid
hooker catback
u can get each of these new and spend around 600 or find them used in good shape and maybe spend 400-450. killer cheap mods that will wake ur car up a bit. of course, the rest of the bolt ons include pulley, headers, throttle body, intake, shifter, sfc. but with 500 to spend, a lid, ftra kit and a good catback like the hooker or magnaflow will make u very happy for now

With long tube headers, you will still pass emissions but LT's are not "street legal" because you have to move your catalysts from their original location.
Sorry for the confusion.

The best money I have spent up to this point has to be on the 4.10:1 ring/pinion.Even with a relatively stock setup, the ring/pinion will make a big
SOTP difference for you.If I remember correctly,I bought the ring/pinion (Motive brand) from LS1 speed for 180 shipped.I have seen labor charges range from $175-200 for the install.Just a suggestion.

My cousin, who is like a bro to me, told me to avoid the detectors. He is a deputy sheriff (And he is honest with me!) They "may" work...chances are they won't. Police are less likely to cut you any slack if you have a radar...in the end...a lot is left to the officers judgement.
