Default How many miles before you notice power loss in the LS1

I was wondering I have 70,000 on my LS1 and I beat the **** out of it everytime I get in. I keep the mantience up on it but i'm starting to think that there is some power loss. I was just wondering if anybody knows when does the LS1 start to lose some of its *****.

As long as you take care of it and keep the maintenance up it should last well over 100,000 miles I would think. Maybe you are just getting used to the power, in which case you need more mods.

You're just getting use to the power....time for more mods.

There've been dyno's posted here of 100K mile car's dynoing right with the others.

Yeah, mine dynoed 294whp stock with 97k miles, still the original plugs and wires, probably should get around to changing those.

Methinks you're just getting use to the power.

I heard all cars lose some power once they've been broken in for a while. I have long tube header, oyp with cut out, magna flow catback and a mti air lid and my car feels just a little faster than stock(not much). I need to get the car tuned then I'm sure all those parts will be brought to life. Plus like everyone said, it's time to mod it. you've gotten use to the power.

Mine keeps getting faster with miles. I keep adding mods. I'm at 100,000 miles and just put in a Cam and Pulley along with LS6 intake. Hope it last another 100,000.

Actually, most cars pick up power (not lose) once they are broken in.

You heard wrong.

LS1's still dyno at near stock power levels after 130,000 miles with proper upkeep.

I've noticed my car getting faster after putting more miles on it, and i'm still in the process with currently 9500 miles on the odo.

I agree with you. Cause car and driver has done results showing this to be true.

Agreed. This has been proven by many on quite a few cars. New motors usually have a few more horses to give once they break in......

Get autotap and see if you're pinging. With the knock sensors in these cars if it detonates the PCM starts to pull timing and you can't always hear it pinging but you're losing power. It also wont flash a SES light. I had it happen in my old car. It started to feel like it was losing power but I had no clue why. I had a guy run autotap on it and we found out it was getting anywhere from 2 to 5 degrees of knock retard at WOT. Found out the PCV was sucking in oil and fouling out the plugs and all. If you have 70k on the car and it has been sucking in oil through the PCV this whole time you might have carbon deposits now. You might want to run top end cleaner through it and get a catch can. That is if that's the problem of course.
