Default 345 Hp Slp Ss??

I just bought an SS this weekend, and gave it a good wash. while i was drying the passenger door jam off i was reading the SLP sticker on there and the first thing listed was 345HP Center Exhaust Performance Package. does this mean my hunch is correct and i have one of the 345HP SLP SS'es?

Yes, it was SLP optioned with the Blackwing lid and CME to give it the 20 hp bump.

This option became available 1/2 way thru the '02 build year. I've been trying to find out how many are out there, but SLP has dropped the ball on the '02 SS cars... I do believe that there are not a whole lot of them out there, though.... WJ BTW, you could order the 345 with either the CME, or the D/D exhaust. The centermounts are a little more restrictive because of the extra 90 degree bends....

Actually stock Z28's are over 345 hp.

Yours is probably 355-360 at the flywheel.

The answer to your question is yes.

Does it mean that your car is going to run any faster than a basic '02 Z28 with "305 HP"? The answer to that is probably not...

All '02 LS1 vehicles are making the same amount of power within certain tolerances and margins for error. If you have an M6 car, you'r probably dynoing between 305 and 320 rwhp; and if you have an A4 290 and 310 rwhp. A '02 Z28 would dyno in the same ranges. The "345 HP" was little more than a marketing ploy... they both have the same engines, and are very close in actual output.

But the 345hp package WILL make a difference because it has a much less restrictive exhaust and does have an aftermarket lid.

very true. though i have seen a few people dissapointed with there 345hp numbers. the blackwing lid is the best in terms of quality and fit though.

More importantly, SOMEDAY the 345 HP SS cars will be more desirable--just because of that option that was offered only on the '02 cars, and only offered 1/2 way thru the build year. The guys that paid the extra $ for the SS cars will get it back in re-sale value. I'm tired of people saying the Z-28 is the same as the SS--only more expensive. Most of these guys are Z-28 owners who wish they had a SS... My opinion, so sound off if you want to.... WJ

LMFAO right

its not like back in the Gen 1 days when an SS was more then just an appearance package. the 345's have a lid and catback , not a huge upgrade.

Ah, jrp, I knew I'd get a rise out of you z-28 guys....For that matter, the 1LE cars are only a shock, springs and a few bushings upgrade, right? Guess it's whatever floats your boat...Firehawks only have a few fancy decals, too...We could argue for days about this stuff, but it comes down to whatever you think's important in choosing your wheels... Best wishes. WJ

I'd run a z-28 stocker any day of the week with my ss.

2001 ss a-4 with a 3000 stall torque and et streets 8.1 in the 1/8th try that with a Z

corrected!

you guys are really amusing sometimes!

maby it hasnt been said enough, an ls1 is an ls1 is an ls1 is an ls1 (continue to repeat untill you realize it).

i guess by your reasoning the 350 horse vettes should absolutly DOMINATE our little 305 horse cars on the dyno then!

you can pull your "you z28 guys just WISH you had an SS" BS out all you want, cause its true, i do WISH i had an SS! they look awesome!

omg...a 2001 z28 a4 with a 3000 stall and et streets would run the exact same (within tollerances) of that ss. GET IT THROUGH YOUR THICK SKULLS!!!! Z28=SS in terms of HP/TQ.

This coming from me, I went the whole extra mile to get a 35th SS LE. Do I think I am hot **** compared to a stock Z28? NO! All I have is a perty hood and spiffy spoiler.
