Default Backfiring when I start up my car

When I started up my car just now it backfired really loud a couple times. I shut if off and started it up again and it did the same exact thing.
This morning when I drove it it was fine. What could cause it to backfire like that and is it okay to drive?

Thanks.

Ok, I went back out there and let it idle for a few minutes, then I shut it off and turned it back on....and no backfire!

Only a Granatelli MAF sensor and Flowmaster muffler. Could my car running lean cause it to backfire? I've been driving it all night and it hasn't done it again.
