Default Insurance

sorry for bringing up insurance again.

but i was getting ready to try and purchase a 2001 WS6 but before i go to get approved for a loan i wanted to check out insurance. I am 19 and figure i will be raped with 250-300 a month and i could handle alright along with a 300-350 dollar loan payment. I've gotten a few quotes today and was thrown off by the many 5000+ a year quotes im getting. Not to mention i just got quoted from geico and it said 4800 which i thought was for a year, clicked further and that was for 6 months!!, whats going on here, i have a clean record, no tickets, no accidents, license since 16, ive owned 3 cars and one is a H/C/I 74' dodge dart sport (pay 100 a month full coverage)

Never did i think 5000+ a year or even 4800+ every 6 months from geico!!

Is there a trick to doing this? I see so many 16,17,18 years olds on here that are paying for 00'-02's and have insurance obviously. How are they doing it?

btw- even under my parents name its 3900+ a year and they have no accidents/tickets....

Try local insurance, not internet, gieko and progressive both rated me at like 6 grand a year, where with my local one, I'm paying 400 dollars a year...

put the car in your dad/moms name, have them put the insurance under their name, then just add you as a driver.the rates will drop substantially.if the insurance company says you must be rated to one of their cars to qualify,or a car of your own then buy some cheapass piece of crap, and then have that insured under your name.thats what i did when i was younger.my "official" car was a 1987 hyundai which i think i paid $200 ins. a month.but my daily driver was actually a brand new acura.(my ricer days)

my cousin bought a vette last year (at 19) and used them for insurance and he said he paid 230 a month full coverage, he turned 20 this year and he said it droped a little.

im 21 and have an 02 WS-6 under my parents name and for my mom who has several speeding tickets and accidents it is only 125 a month for full coverage. That is through farmers by the way. Oh yeah i have no tickets or Traffic accidents and they wanted to rape me with a 340 a month bill. Apparently they have never driven with my mom before.

Im 20 and had my 02SS when I was 19 I pay 135 a month for full coverage through local insurance. I had to get a seperate policy apart from my parents and have my dad listed as the main driver on my car and me just as a driver.

Like some others have said here, the best thing you can do is list your dad or mom as the main driver of the f-body, and yourself as the main driver of your mom/dad's vehicle or as an ocassional driver.
