HP increase with full tune?
I'm debating the point of getting a full tune after bolt-ons. I'm not sure if I'm going to be doing a cam after these, and if I do it won't be till at least next year. I'll be getting it tuned with lid, SSRA, ported TB, smooth bellows, LS6 intake, !AIR, !EGR, QTP 1 3/4 race LT's and ORY with dual electric cutouts. I'll also have the Tb coolant bypass and a 160* stat.
My question is, what kind of power increase could I expect with a full tune with those mods? I'm guessing around 10 hp but I really have no idea. If someone else has experience with this or has had a tune with these types of mods before let me know. I'm trying to decide if it's worth the money.

[QUOTE=Ru2n00n3er]I'm debating the point of getting a full tune after bolt-ons. I think it would depend on how soon you would get a cam. Tuning is expensive.

But hopefully you stuff was tuned as soon as you put those goodies in.
I should have worded that as killing those items for no rewards.

actually haha...it hasn't been tuned in 5 months...and is getting tuned tomorrow...the previos owner did most all of the work and never had it tuned...i think it ended up screwing the o2 sensors and or plugs up or something else...you got any ideas on what could be screwed up this is the thread https://ls1tech.com/forums/general-maintenance-repairs/293351-car-won-t-stay-running.html

Speed Inc. is $450 for a full tune. I found someone that will delete codes and such for free to help me out, so I was thinking that then a full tune at Speed would only cost $300. Their basic tune costs $150 so I thought that price would come off if you didn't need it. But it doesn't. So it'll still cost me $450 for a full tune.
But I would end up wanting to get it dynoed after the mods anyway, to see the power increase. That's ~$90, and a tune would help me get better gas mileage which would save me money. I need to decide.

Don't flame me and don't be pissed at me for saying that but it true.
I have had lt1edit and tunercats from when I had a LT1 car and now I own LS1edit and EFIlive now that I have a LS1 car and HPTUners is SO MUCH EASYIER TO LEARN.

Now as to your transmission problem that could be something as simple as very low fluid(I dought it), but most likely something more trouble some(read expensive).

my buddy picked up 10hp / 15tq at g-force in houston on st. pattys day. his only mods were MTI lid, Kooks headers, catted y-pipe, and GMMG. timing was horrible but mike fixed it up right
i plan on getting a tune w/ my cam this summer. they have a lifetime tune program, so jason said what the heck and had it done last thursday.

Getting a tune sounds great but I don't think I can afford it right now. I have done a few mods since I bought it stock and I definitely think it needs to be tuned. Thanks for the input guys.

The first tune with your car at a single shop should be $500 or so. After that the cost of a tune should be by the hour, or at a reduced cost. They need to charge that much for the first tune because the shops pay over $200 for the software licensing for each VIN#.
Stay with the same shop and tune after big mods. You will not run right or get the full benefits out of your mods without a tune.
Good LucK!!

Get it tuned ...
I had JBA shorties, high-flow cats, LS1 intake 26# injectors, stock TB. Dyno'd 335/349. I dumped it all for a ported TB, LS6 intake, 28.8# injectors, ported MAC's, and ORY ... thought I had more power because I had made the swaps.
Got it re-tuned a couple of weeks after all the swapping and the first dyno run produced numbers of 317/346 ... with a few A/F tweaks and some good tuning skills, it made what's in my sig ... 360/370. This was my situation ... others here will have different results, IMO. BTW, my car will idle perfectly now. Mike at NLP did the tuning.
So, based on this experience, I would say go for a tune without a doubt ... just know your tuner and that they are reputable and have good equipment and know how to use it.
