actually it puts wear on the throw out bearing more than anything. You don't really dis-engage the clutch when you are just resting your foot on it. Well I guess you could have a really heavy foot

Resting your foot on the pedal will do no harm IMHO.
Putting pressure on it to cause the clutch to slip will lead to heat and wear, then a new clutch. The bearings are designed to take anything you can give em.

don't your calves hurt like a bitch considering they are half way up in the air resting slightly on the pedal?, if you are puttin even a bit of pressure on the clutch pedal(ie to take the weight OFF your calf).....you are unnecessarily wearing your clutch system

lol, sorry buddy, if it makes you feel any better, i learned how to drive manual when I worked at a ford delaership doin PDIs/Delivery to the Ford Plant for Exec cars, that was a great job, and no GM casualties! But yeah the guy who taught me said to engage/release the clutch as quickly/smoothly as possibly
