Default Breakdown of regular Trans Am vs. WS6

Does anyone know the approximate ratio of WS6 vs. regular Trans Am from 98-02? I feel like I see as many, if not more, WS6's than TA's. I know this is not the case at all. I guess there is just a high concentration of them in my area.

Phil, actually I think for a couple of the model years they did in fact make for WS6 T/A's than regular T/A's. Specifically I think 2000, 2001 and 2002.

All three of the TA's in my area are WS6's. I think i've seen maybe 5 plain old TA's of the 98+ model year...ever. But I think i've seen maybe a grand total of 20 different 98+ TAs/WS6s period.

Check the new users or firebird/Trans Am section, they have a ton of stats.

I the WS6 to regular T/A production in '02 was like 3 to 1. Something like 12,000 WS6's to 4,000 regular's.

Check out the 1998 numbers link in the list at https://ls1tech.com/forums/showpost....96&postcount=2 , there's numbers on those characteristics - not in combination with each other, but you could figure out percentage estimates from it. There were never a whole lot of convertibles made, and that's pretty good mileage, less than 10K per year.

I've seen 1 or 2 in parking lots and whatnot. And while I admit that the flat hood look has grown on me recently, I still can't help but wonder, why would you not go all the way if you were buying a Trans Am. It's like buying a regular Trans Am during the GTA years.

Some buy the non-WS6 ones to save money, or because they plan on modding them so the WS6 components would be getting replaced anyway, or because they don't want to attract as much attention...

....and some buy them because they just aren't as common as WS6's.

I could barely afford a regular Trans Am.

I bought a regular TransAm instead of a WS6 because I couldn't justify spending $3000+ for a different hood and shocks, and no real extra power. (I bought mine new) Plus, I really don't like the ram-air hood. I did put some serious thought into the Firehawk, because I did like the hood on that one, and the suspension differences were slightly greater. (springs & shocks? I don't remember) I ended up not getting the Firehawk for the same reason, and knew I was going to mod it anyway...

There's also the fact that WS6 conversions of what few regular TAs out there is fairly common and relatively easy.

I too personally don't really like the WS6 hood. The Firehawk hood, on the other hand. Someday I hope to have the money and be able to get my hands on a genuine Firehawk hood. I just don't like the fit and finish of the aftermarket hoods modeled after it. Perhaps someday I'll get lucky.

Firebird production numbers links list, for the third time in this thread...
https://ls1tech.com/forums/showpost....96&postcount=2

If it's not on that list, unfortunately it probably will not be available. (2000 is one of the years with very little information.)

Maple Red Metallic was an uncommon color, non-WS6 4th-gen TAs were uncommon, and convertibles were uncommon. So there were probably very few in that combination.

Well, in 2002 there were only 9 Maple Red TA convertibles... https://ls1tech.com/forums/showpost....1&postcount=12

Definitely deserves that kick for selling it!
