Default Strange noise ?

I noticed recently that I can hear a sound like I am dragging something under my car or something rattling underneath it when I slow down in neutral. It seems more common without the brakes on at all as well. Anyone know waht that may be ? Im thinking possibly the heat shield ?

I had a noise like that. A long while back a V-Tech tried to out run me, then he just disappeared, I found him hooked up underneath.
Jack up your car & play with anything that looks like it can come loose, you will find it in the end just expect to become frustrated trying to find it.

Tcarswell, this is a problem that im fighting with also....and from my searchs it seems to be more common (gears and axle forum)than i thought. I have looked and looked for the source of this noise. I have a good buddy at a GM dealership and he said that pitting of the axles around the bearings is a problem in some...and also look for a few service bulletins on the backing plate bolts on the rear. Im going to change those backing plates first the disassemble my rear in search of wear or something. Maybe then someone or me can shed some light on this elusive rearend rattle in late model f-bodies

I had a couple crazy noises for a while. I ended up getting under the car and just checking everyhting to make sure it was tight. Ended up having to play with the exhaust and bend the pipe below the heat shield.
