I wouldn't do it. They have aerodynamics like a brick and weight 2 tons+. Unless you want to have a half capable truck for some functional purpose that is.

well note that im biased or anything (ya know, its not like its an LS1 forum), but...really...id say WS6. I agree with blkz28 on all accounts. If you wanted any supercharged ford, do the 03-04 cobra, and im not even sure i'd do that.

I've owned two of each. One 99 Lightning, one 03 Lightning, one 99 WS6 and now a 00 WS6. It all depends on what you want to do. If you need something tha that can haul stuff then it's a no brainer. I will tell you this about the Lightnings tho:

1) 01+ They fixed a bunch of minor problems and picked up 20hp
2) 99-02 Lightnings still have the old head design that have 4 threads per spark plug, these have a tendency to spit plugs. If this happens your looking at $2k for parts and labor to fix this problem, then it could still happen to the other head!
3) Personally I think the Lightning is more refined and a better riding vehicle than the WS6, from my experience they handle better than the 2 WS6's I've owned. They pull .86 on the skid pad, that's crazy for a truck!
4) I had less than $1k in mods in both of the ones i owned. Never dynoed the 99 but the 03 put down 400rwhp and 523rwtq on 20's. I raced numerous Cammed LS1's, from a roll I would hang if not nudge ahead up to 80/90mph. After that your dumpster like aerodynamics come into effect and the modded LS1 will pull ahead by half a car. Keep in mind this is on 20's.

The Lightning will hand a lot of cars their a$$ with minor upgrades up to 80/90mph, off the line they are pretty deadly. The major factor that turned me away is the gas prices, with the mods I had I averaged 14-15mpg in both the city and interstate, you have to put 93 octane in or they will ping.

Just my .02 from owning two of both.

Only get the Lightning if you need a truck. If I got a similar offer it would be a hard decision. But I always need a truck and don't have one...plus those Lightnings haul ***. I had the pleasure of driving one, it was a treat. Just a PITA to see out of, especially the back window. My only gripe with it is the visibility.

What do you run? Just curious because last fall at the track I lost to a lightning. Only ford to ever beat me.(i don't race a lot) It didn't have many mods but ran a 12.8 on an awsome r/t. I ran quicker, and faster, but lost. And like I said he didn't have much done.

Lightnings are sick trucks, I have always wanted one for some reason. But if I were you I would stick with the ws6, theres no way that I would trade my SS for one.

Unless you need the extra space keep the the ws6. I love both and one day hope to own one of each. The ws6 should be fast and get better gas milage.

They dont make lightnings anymore either. I personally really like the lightnings. A truck is more functional to me with the stuff i do. When my lt1 just had a flowmaster and a k&n i pulled one, but not bad though. For the most part the WS6 will be faster, but the truck wont be slow by any means.
