Default Tb bypass

Instead of but that kit from BMR can't U just go and by a longer hose to connect the outlet to the radiator directly????

i used a 6-8" peice of 5/16 copper pipe & the 2 hose clamps that were already on it at the TB. It was hard getting the smaller hose to slip over the tube but it was REAL cheap and hasnt leaked at all (since last june)

Here's an idea...don't waste your time. That mod is absolutely meaningless IMO unless you plan on building a racecar.

I did it, and it makes removing the throttle body a MUCH easier and quicker task. Add it up in the "every little bit helps" catagory. What I did on both my cars was get 2 ft of 5/16" hose and run it from the block to the return on the radiator. Yeah, the block end is like 1/4", but just clamp down real good with a hose clamp and it'll be fine. Had it like that on the pewter car for nearly 2 years, and on the black one for 3 months so far with ZERO problems. Here's the way I look at it, GM put it there cause it DOES make the throttlebody warmer, so that means removing it WILL make it cooler, and cooler air means more power. Who cares how little of an increase it is, it's gotta help a little, plus easier/faster to remove the TB in the future. Worth it IMHO.

Fortunately for me, the BMR place is right down the street from me, so its just a short drive.

And i'm in no way creative or a mechanic, and $15 isnt going to break me, so i just bought the kit...and had someone put it on for me

Here is the link that I used to do mine.

http://www.ls1.com/linkthrottlebody.html

Been 2 years and no problems what so ever. I also put in in the "Every Little Bit Counts" category. Especially in Florida. Who needs more heat?

Buy the hose at an auto store and everything else you need can be purchased at Home Depot.

I have been hesitant to do this mod since I live in freezing temperatures for a short time during the year. Does anyone up north have this mod? What are your thoughts?

too much work/money...i just bought about 2-3' of 5/16" rubber hose...i think it was brake line hose...but it could have been vacuum hose...it was really tight on the radiator side and i didn't think i was going to be able to get it on...but it worked...i just clamped it on the block and radiator and installed caps on the throttle body...all parts were had at autozone...

I read in a mag. It was either camaro performers or the chevy high performance mag. They did this mod and did a dyno run before and after. The difference was 6 hp. not alot but every little bit helps. Easy to do or undo when winter comes around. I don't drive mine in the winter.

6hp...that sounds a little extreme. I would love to see that article.

in between runs the car could have picked up some hp by cooling off. i read some one did the bypass on bhamfbody. they claimed to gained a few extra horses but it could of been from letting the engine cool off. though it did gain so every little bit counts. even if you gained 1 rwhp, and spent $3 on just a brass reducer it has to be one of the best mods for the money. i read that every 10 degrees cooler the air is, it gives off 1 extra hp, so the mod for sure adds something.

I'll see if I can find that mag. If my wife hasn't trashed it yet. I'm almost positive they said 6Hp. If I remember correctly they did both runs at the same eng temp. I didn't believe it when I read it either. I'll look for it.
