Default Rear Cover or Lid?

I have around 100 bones to spend... should I get a rear end cover ( from SLP ) or get an SLP lid? I want to change the oil in the rear so I figured, hell if I'm taking off the rear cover, why not replace it with the good one?? Then I think about mmm, a lid is normally the first thing someone does to an LS1 and it adds a little power.

Help! ( and I can't get both right now, wedding is next month so $$ is limited. )

dont get a rear end cover its a waste in my opinion, honestly stay away from slp, i along with many others have got very crappy customer service from them, i sold all the slp stuff on my car, including the lid becuase i wanted nothing on my car to advertise their name.

but definately go with the air lid, i would recomment the TSP lid, its a nice piece and what i have on the car currently, you can get it with no decal so you can put your own on, makes it look pretty sweet under the hood too

You get the looks and performance with the lid. The cover you get? a nice look that most will never see. I just got the SLP lid, I like it, looks great, and feels great.

well with the cover you can easily drain and change the oil in the future, as for the lid it is a nice addition but like they said stay away from the slp lid ive had problems as well, as far as advertising on the lid i shaved the slp logo and repainted

-as far as deciding just draw straws or something because if you get one now youll more than likely get the other in the future

HA! Join the club! I kept the lid though.

Most bang for your buck would be the lid.

lid is normally the first thing people do, although in my case....it was the last. lol. you should just get a new rear altogether

I will get a new rear, eventually. I just like the idea of not having to take the cover off to change the rear oil ( it's never been changed and I want to do it ) after the cover. Looks like everyone is voting for the lid, must be worth it. I say SLP because I can get one for 98 bucks shipped on ebay ( I'm an ebay junkie ) and the TSP is 130 bucks shipped, I could use that money and buy myself some NGK T55 plugs!

well from a guy that has botha ta performance rear end cover and a mti lid, i would go for a lid. do the free ram air mod and you will notice a difference.
but the cover does look good, when its on a lift.............

u can take the rear cover off and change the fluid in it then, get a new gasket and spend 10 bucks instead of 175. you can have someone weld a drain plug on the stock piece for prob 30 bucks. where did you see a tsp lid for 130???? 109.99 on their site, i got mine for like 95 bucks plus shipping. but if u dont care to have the slp log under your hood go for it, its a good piece, i just dont like slp.

you dont have to change that gear oil that much so if this is the only reason you want the cover dont get it IMO. the fluid can go 15-30k miles before needing to be changed. you can get a pump to suck the fluid out cheaper than that, thats how we did it at work

Yeah, ease of draining and filling ( plus I've heard it can strengthen the rear ) is the main reason I am concidering the cover, the SLP one is only 99 bucks on their site as well ( I'm not an SLP fan, but if they offer parts that work and are cheaper then I really don't care if it has the SLP name on it ).

The lid is 109.99 + shipping ( which made it out to be like 128 bucks ).

I'm happy with my SLP lid (and most of the stuff what I have from them) fits well.
And my vote goes for the lid too.
